What Are You Doing Right Now
-
Looking at my drive tomorrow morning and deciding what time to wake the family up.
I would like to arrive by 15:00, so thinking to depart at 07:00.
-
My last mile WiMAX connection is getting 50% packet loss. This is crap.
-
That I-35 route I think it a toll road.. but the last time I drove it it was a great stretch of road.

Is that your only connection?

We have rock solid 3G on the cell phone.

The toll road is to Witchita from Topeka. I-335 to I-35. Going I-35 and switching to US50 at Emporia has no tolls.
I like the I-70 route as it is all interstate instead of switching to highway.
Both are pretty drives, but everything is brown right now. I went the I-35 route last week with the boss.

Wondering what's with everyone thinking they need to buy a SAN now. I guess it's the trendy thing now.

Vendors are really pushing them. I got a call from Dell earlier this week asking about my storage needs. Earlier this month EMC called me asking the same thing.

From what I've read they are often setup incorrectly.

Yep and there a ton of thread popping up over there with people wanting to buy/implement one to do virtualization for 2-3 servers as well as people recommending it. which makes a single point of failure.

Since they normally are selected when they aren't appropriate to use, incorrectly set up is pretty much a given.

I can't tell if people just hate the users there and are trolling or if they are getting kickbacks from vendors or what.

It's IT's version of natural selection / darwin award. Shhhh let it happen

Maybe. Consider they are also telling people that double NATing is a security pratice. It keep your ISP out of your network as well as provides two firewalls to break through.
And That PH.D's are good for IT Jobs
