Still, their budget gets bigger every year, and they continue to be pirated more and more. I don't see HBO crying about it...
So what makes you think you get to control their budget just because you don't like how much they get. If you think something is worth watching buy it. simple as that. You sound very much like you think your are Entitled to it.
I know you were directing that comment at AJ, but I wanted to jump in here. That's why I don't like some of the digital distribution - it almost totally eliminates sharing. As I mentioned before, I don't really want to own Lucy on DVD so I'm going to borrow my friends copy then give it back... that's something that doesn't really exist in the digital world.

Well, DVD is just as digital as anything else But we know what you mean.
Actually with several different services you can lend just as easily with digital downloads or "ephemeral" media. Amazon MP3 is 100% DRM free, always. So sharing has never been easier, for example. It's completely trust based that you don't make illegal copies.
And I believe that there is a lending system in Amazon VOD. I know that there is for Kindle and I think that there is for Audible.
The majority of my digital download books are DRM free as well. Those that aren't I avoid. That's why I buy my travel books from Lonely Planet and Rough Guides but not from Rick Steves.

I don't have a problem with that delay. The delay is there to drive sales of Blurays. If you want it right now, buy the Bluray, if you can stand waiting a month, well then.. lol wait.
I don't follow. BluRays come out after the digital downloads these days. We get movies months earlier than they go to BD.

You do for purchase, but not for rent or for services like Netflix or HULU.
And it's not all movies that come out digitally first.. only some. -

Oh sure, but even if you do normal rental, loaning is difficult and annoying. Once you into that category you just share Netflix accounts to lend something. Or tell them to get their own Netflix account. That's not the same as owning a movie, you are already paying to borrow it, not to own it.

Sure I understand that Netflix etc are just borrowing movies, but when the movie doesn't become available for months or longer, and I'm willing to go to the hassle of borrowing a Bluray versus handing over $4+ for a rental... than I am..

Community is back and, strangely, on Yahoo! Screen.

That was an amazing show. @dominica and I always watched that.

What happens when Firefly cast members decide to make a spoof-ish show and base some of the show off what happened with Firefly? Well, they raise over 1.5 MILLION in two days...

That's pretty impressive. Let's hope that it goes somewhere.

Agreed! I pitched in $50 bucks and are getting a poster for it. If I'd seen that $60 got you a t-shirt, I'd have dropped the extra $10 but oh well...

"I are getting"? You've been away from NY for too long

I've spoken that way my whole life...

Texas did not alter my speech patterns whatsoever.

I've never seen Lost, but
spoilers
It seems like a really stupid TV show based on all I've read about it, glad I didn't get wrapped up in it like I did Earth2, I'll never get that time back.

Never seen it either, but heard enough about it to know that I have no interest in it at all.

I tried watching it a few times when people where saying it was so good. The show doesn't even make sense.

I've discovered, and I am being completely serious, that for most people no show makes sense. People find tension from the moment to moment situations, from musical cues, from cinematography but they actually, in general, cannot follow plots and don't actually know what is happening. It is amazing how often people love shows that are not self consistent and don't make sense and have no idea because they don't actually pay attention or manage to follow the events and put them together.

This is why I don't like ScFi. There isn't much of a plot.. other than hey, lets us as much special fx as we can.
