the school must license Office in order for its students to be eligible
So, it's free in the sense that someone else is paying for it. 😞 I was hoping to save some money on our campus agreement when it came up for renewal.

I can confirm that it's live. I used the eligibility check on my work address and got the on-site confirmation & sign-up email.

students gain access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, and Publisher installed on up to five PCs or Macs, and on up to five mobile devices like iPad, Android, and Windows tablets; plus, Office Online and 1TB of OneDrive storage.

Good license features with more storage than in my home pc.
Add to that my email address on the student side and all my other cloud storage, I now have 2.1TB of cloud storage!

I missed the fact that this was world wide at first thinking this wasn't new... but it's cool they've expanded the offering to all.

So as long as the school is already in an agreement, the students all get this? No new charges to the school?

Correct. This is just like Software Assurance benefits that company employees can get. For example, if your business has SA on Office, the employees are entitled to a single copy of that same version of Office for home use for $10, which is valid as long as the company maintains it's SA.

Of course today, this is less useful because Office 365 E levels allow each user to install office on 5 Full O/Ss and 5 mobile ones.

                    That's how I read it.
