@krzykat do they have WiFi in that area? I use WiFi calling a lot.

Yeah - either WiFi calling - or get a femtocell from the carrier.

I'm guessing this person wants a carrier-less solution though? Those that I have seen that work are very expensive.

Yes, they want carrier independent. As for WIFI it is either there or can be, but then there is the issue of MMS doesn't work over WIFI. That is something they are looking for. The one's that I've done in the past were for specific use cases that were locked to the carrier (but that's not the use case here).

You have T-Mobile (or did), they do everything over WiFi if the device supports it. Not all carriers do that.

Oh okay. It's not an MMS limitation then. It's a carrier limitation. They can limit anything if they want to.

I could have sworn YOU were the one who told me SMS/MMS doesn't work over WiFi.

You're definitely going to be looking at an expensive system - you have to be able to receive and rebroadcast a whole host of frequencies to cover all carriers - have fun with that project.

Yeah, my guess is that to do it properly will be cost prohibitive for them. They want it in 4 different locations and I bet they will baulk at anything over $1,000 / location.

For a client I would go with Wilson/weBoost, but for my house the following was good for 900sqft, but I wouldn't use it for larger than that.

@flaxking Two of the rooms are very small, and wouldn't be a bad testbed ... did the device you get work for multi-carriers or do you have to program it for a specific one?

@krzykat around here everyone's using the same bands, so not really an issue, just hook it up, point in the general direction of a tower and it's good to go. Your experience may vary.
