I think you can throw that all out the window Scott - you're one of those people who genetically need less sleep.

That's exactly me. Five to six hours is completely sustainable without ever feeling unrested or needing to play catch up. Any less and I wear down.

8 hours isn't even close to enough for me most of the time. Someday it would be nice to get enough sleep but that just isn't possible ever.

Some people just need more. Lots of people need nine. That's still a common number. And I think that I have read, from older studies, that women average needing something like thirty minutes more than men.

The weird part is that @scottalanmiller and I are actually the same in this. I can sustain 5-6 hours for months and years and be fine.

There are actually plenty of times I feel MORE tired if I sleep 7+ hours...

I stopped taking sleeping pills my senior year of high school after I realized they didn't help me fall asleep or stay asleep but only made me non-functional the next day...I was on sleeping pills for over a decade...and yes, that meant I started sleeping pills when I was ~5...

Yes...the non-functional aspect of it is the worst part...I thought a lack of sleep made me non-functional...the Ambien hangovers are worse...2 years here...ready for the escape...
