Power Generating Shoes

The Germans have invented a shoe that generates power as you walk. Great idea. Exercise and power your devices!

That's a cool idea. That would have been awesome in Congo to keep my cell phone charged.

Umm yes they are building roads, it's true. However they will be in horrible shape in about a month after being done. They do not maintain anything.
Yes they have resources, but the corrupt government officials are in charge of them. There is no infrastructure to do anything with them in country so it really doesn't help anyone out. The Chinese own almost everything (not on paper but you get the drift). There are parts of it that are beautiful and untouched, for now. But it will end up decimated like many other jungles in the world, due to corruption and greed. But to be fair anything they can do to generate an actual income makes life better for them (oh wait for the government officials).

According to Paul Theroux in "Dark Star Safari", donations and much non-donation money going into African countries not only doesn't reach the people it is meant for but actually creates the power among the government officials making it impossible for the populace to overthrow them when they would otherwise be able to. It's actually building an unstoppable corruption machine where there is only value in corruption.

Seems like they could make a lot of power generating clothing. Think about wrist bands that generate power from the swinging of your arms or some kind of joint that goes at your hip and generates power from your leg movement. There are probably several places where minimal impact to you would generate a fair amount of power.
Plus the obvious solar powered hats and things like that.
