      I was working with a user this morning they went to search, and after hitting enter after typing in their query, the search box turned grey.

      Anyone seen this?

      I'm going to do :
      dism
      sfc /scannow

      other suggestions?

          Windows (File) Explorer not Internet Explorer.

              This is not IE, but Windows Explorer - how you find files on Windows.

                It does not persist after closing the window and reopening it.

                    because it's not uncommon to do 2+ searches in a row. Now they have to close the window between searches... which means it's broken.
