Unable to Use Wifi When Laptop is Docked in Docking Station (SOLVED)
-
I was having an issue that is pretty common from what I've seen in my Google searches. I have an HP Probook 6570b with the 120W Advanced Docking Station. Now, I was having an issue where whenever I was docked and had a LAN cable plugged in, my wifi would automatically shut off and be unusable. As long as I have it routing traffic primarily over my LAN connection, which I configured, I like having the wifi for failover. However, by default, you literally can't enable wifi if you are using the LAN connection in any way. The fix? Disable LAN/WLAN switching in the BIOS. Once I did that, I am now rocking and rolling with both interfaces connected while docked. Hope that helps someone else! Thanks,
 A.J.

Failover? How often have you had a LAN go down?

Not often, but my LAN connection goes from my dock to a switch through Powerline adapters to my other main 8-port switch and then to the router. If something fails at any number of points along that way, it's handy to have the failover.
