DON"T BREAK IT! I hope they have no serious bugs in this one.

So what is up with "hearting" now?

Hearts are the same as before. The heart has always been the way to favorite a thread or to share it (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) I am surprised that there is no Pinterest option yet.
What has been removed is the up and down vote option. It wasn't actually useful before and was adding to peoples' "reputations" which was not useful and not how it was used. It was, overall, bad so it was shut down. It has the added benefit of making the site just that much faster too.

Good idea.Really never meant to have it there. We just didn't look into disabling it until today.

I can't up vote this post now then that saddens me.
-
Full upgrade it running right now.
-
Ubuntu says...
1 package is going to be removed. 41 new packages are going to be installed. 450 packages are going to be upgraded.

Ryan Says "wee woo wee woo"

Updating my server at home right now.

Okay, we have to reboot to take effect. So we are going down for a minute, this should be fast. (Famous last words.)
-
And we are back! Ubuntu 14.10 running here now.
-
Sorry for the brief interlude there. But we got the update done quite painlessly.
-
What's funny is that while there were very few posts going on during the upgrade, we actually did it during peak traffic. Probably not the ultimate in planning. It felt quiet but it really wasn't.

Just wondering, what's the reason for using Ubuntu instead of a different distro?

I'm sure Scott would have used CentOS if he could. Probably what they built the platform on.

NodeBB is built on Ubuntu. There is a lot of benefit in a case like this in running on the exact same OS as the developers. They provide packages for other systems, but none of them are really tested. They are a small company. And we are the largest user of their software. So we don't want to be out front trying new things, the chances of us finding major breaks would be rather high.
-
Thanks that is good information.

Yes, if I had my druthers I'd be on CentOS or OpenSuse first. Ubuntu is okay, but far from my top choice(s).

Hey, we had a rocky day but at least we were not the only ones. It's been a busy day here, though, which is great. We had very solid posting all day.
