"Export To Excel" Option in Onedrive for Business
-
I recently noticed an "Export to Excel" option started popping up when using ODfB. We use ODfB a lot to share files without O365 accounts to external people.
Wondering what it did, I clicked it, and it downloaded an Excel IQY file, which, when opened, displayed the contents of my entire ODfB folder. Not just the share. Everything.
Upon testing, it appears that only I can open that file, but I still think it
a) potentially gives out information that it doesn't need to and
b) is confusing to users just accessing a website to download a shared fileI asked if there was a way to remove it, and apparently there is not. They suggested maybe "Sharepoint Designer" could remove it, and suggested requesting removal as a future feature.
This is what is inside the IQY file.

There is an option in the account settings called "stop using ODfB" that fixes this

I popped that link in the file into my browser and got this.
I popped porn mode and tried it with this result.

So you just want to disable the option so people do not get confused?
That will never happen. Users will always get confused.

I guess it just seemed odd to have it there, to serve up a listing of files.
I guess if no one can me can get to it, it's not a concern. But then, why put it there? Or only put it there for the users with access to it.

Well then, with that logic, why click on it?

I like to see what can break.

I mean for the users.
