Well Ubuntu has this down pat. . .

I just hope the hardware will be able to run it well enough.

Well Zorin is built on top of Ubuntu, so if it will run Zorin, it will run Ubuntu.

The installer itself doesn't have an OEM option.

What does that have to do with the performance?

He was talking about the OEM install that is available on the boot screen. I don't recall anything about the performance between Ubuntu and Zorin OS.

Do you know who is getting these computers or are you just donating them? This seems like a LOT of work to just be donating some computers to be used by unknown people for unknown reasons...

@bnrstnr The goal is to have the machines clean enough to be able to donate or super cheaply sell to employees who want one.

Waiting for DBAN to do it's thing isn't an option and creating a set of users isn't either.

So OEM setup is the best approach for the 2 hours it might take to find a viable option. Which ubuntu works, I'm not using it. . . lol

Yup, if Deepin had a simple way to do this, as the Deepin-Installer-OEM doesn't appear to work, at least not without some tinkering (which I don't want to do) I'll just use Ubuntu.

I tried mint on this hardware and it didn't run the way Id expect.

So went to the most basic OS, Ubuntu.

@dbeato At least it is coming. That's a nice feature to have.

Very nice. I've already finished with these laptops though so likely won't revisit this.
