Permission error attempting to update ownCloud to Nextcloud
-
Ok, I have no idea what the NextCloud update script is looking for but it is driving me insane. No one with a clue is responding on the Nextcloud forum.
I tried to read the index.php to see what the functions were doing, but could not follow all of it.

I saw the same issue on this post:
https://help.nextcloud.com/t/write-permission-issues-when-updating-from-10-0-1-to-10-0-2/5978/6
Have the permissions on the updater folder been changed recursively to the folders and files inside them?

There are no files in the updater folder. Well there are, but those are nto the files being mentioned that have permission problems.
Did you not read my post at all? FFS.

@JaredBusch is this SELinux enabled installation? SELinux can cause weird permissions problems

Good point. I forget about SELinux because it has become second nature for me to have it correctly configured for normal operations.

What's crazy to me is they haven't built SELinux operations into their update scripts.

@JaredBusch Yes, I read it and saw the permission errors on that folder... so sorry If I misread it.

Yes. And upgrade completed. Such a simple thing to check and tell people.
