        What's our allowable budget for sheet metal, plywood, duct tape, and epoxy? We need a case, ya know.... 😉

        A case is already included with the only motherboard I could find for this CPU family.

        Ok... we will still need a dozen or so of these for cooling:

        The snowflakes make it cool more efficiently.

        I dont think we'll have the budget for cooling..... this thing will have to be in space to stay cool..

        Vacuum is terrible for thermal transference, should really just dunk it in a big vat of mineral oil.

          Good point. You want high density fluids, not low density.

            @scottalanmiller is a killjoy. . .

            That's nothing, you do realize that Sparc is 128 threads PER PROCESSOR 🙂

            And it goes way bigger than eight sockets. 😉

            OMG I'm out of date. That was the T5. And the T7 is out now, I need to look up the new specs.

                Hrm.... 32 cores, 8 threads per core, 1 fpu per core, 64MB L3 cache, 2-8 cpu per system, 8 TB max RAM in an M7-8. That's 2048 threads per system. Reminds me of the old SGI Onyx systems sporting thousands of cores.

                    IBM, Oracle and HPE all still make those. HPE SuperDome, for example, starts at a full rack in size.

                        Don't forget the custom water cooling distribution block.
