Anyone have any input on what might cause this, I assume a virus is on our network possibly. But looking for input before I start jumping to conclusions.

Yeah, check your AV server. Failing that, go and find the user who brought their festering boil of a laptop to work and beat them with it.

I've seen that on occasion when sending back to back searches. Nothing to do with malware AFAIK

This happened a few times recently and I was at a loss until the 2nd time it happened a sales guy walks over to me and says, hey I just ran this tool and I think I broke Google. He was using a chrome plugin that was a lead gen workaround to LinkedIn search query limitations. You can get around the LinkedIn limit by Googling profiles and this tool scripted the Google searches which put the captcha in place.

This is usually caused by people abusing google service etc from that external IP address.
