Viewing Files In ownCloud

In ownCloud, when a user selects a file it prompts for a download so you have to download then open the file. Can files be opened/viewed from within ownCloud without having to save each time?

Lots of ifs with this one. OwnCloud does have the online documents plugin, or you can use LibreOffice Online/Collabora. I'd recommend testing the Documents plugin first as LOO/Collabora still have a lot of teething issues.

I can open PDF files inside OC with a single mouse click

I was told most users cant create a PDF but I thought installing reader installs a PDF printer

I don't think the document handling in ownCloud will handle XPS (office) documents yet, unless you go ahead and compile LibreOffice Online yourself
