And should not happen when split regionally as it is, either. This is terrible misuse of the political system. A "within margin of error" majority can, at an time, cause irreparable damage to the country? That's insane. Even the US is not that bad. And the US has some terrible political systems.

Yeah, already heard that. Therapists for everyone, mass motivational seminars... Just need to remember to tell my kids (don't have any yet) to become something serious, like lawyer, therapist or politican.

The funny thing is, that by suspending the market they are often hurting themselves more than benefiting.
Doing that just causes more panic as the uber-rich say "give me everything" when the market reopens.

Then they just suspend it again. The real punishment comes from the market being unable to make money. Stopping losses also stops gains. The markets are huge money makers. Turning them off turns off much of the economy.
