      Anyone knows other free S/MIME certificate issuers beside StartSSL?
      Let's Encrypt does not provide these types of certificates.

          Hi @Jason. Thanks for your note. I do not seem to see how I can get one for free. I am browsing their site and see that in the Free SSL section they only appear to provide 90 days 'free' for SSL certificates, no mention of S/MIME anywhere...

              I have made a side by side comparison of Comodo (left) and StartSSL (right).

              Key Takeaways:

              1. Both allow Email Digital Signature and Encryption
              2. Only StartSSL allows for Data Encryption (read file encryption) (outside of email)
