Are they all the same model of HP though ie all the same driver?
Yes, HP Universal.
That might be your issue actually.
As a side comment you can use Web Jet Admin to manage the jet directs.
Nah, Universal drivers are the best. Especially when deploying drivers from a file server.
I don't mean they are bad I mean they might not be working. Changing it would take practically no time and would show whether or not it's a driver issue.

Direct IP does seem to be working.....
-
Do the printers print if you add one direct instead of going through the print server?

Meaning installing the printer locally on a computer by IP works? Signifying it's more likely to be a driver issue on the print server.

Try Stopping spooler on the print server
del c:\windows\system32\spool\printers*.*
Then Starting Spooler -

Then Starting SpoolerI assume that he already looked at the event log though. He would've seen the spooler crashing.

Logs seems clean.

Print spooler is running.

Based on the information I have currently I think it's a driver issue.

@wirestyle22 What one should I try?

I don't know what models you are currently using but if hypothetically you have an hp 4250, install the actual drivers for that printer and see if it works. That would prove that it is in fact a driver problem. Then download the latest Universal Drivers and 'replace' them on the server. Even if they are the same version I have run into similar problems and reinstalling the drivers has worked. I hope this is the case for you.

I would restart the print spooler service as my first step.

Yep even if it's running you should stop it, clear it and restart it.

You are using JetDirects?
No, just the built-in cards.
HP Printers if they have built in print servers are JetDirect.

Did you delete those files in the directory?

Also there may not be any files in there FYI. It's not a guarantee that they will be in there.

Yes. But they should be deleted if they are to help with troubleshooting.

Absolutely.
