But the great thing is that it covers places that are close but roads can't handle. Like if a bridge is out or a ravine or rough terrain.

Because this gets rid of the schedule.
If you can hope into your private drone and just set it for Denver (a normal destination for me 8 hrs by car) This would be awesome! Even if the drone needed 2 recharging stops along the way, if the time was reduced by 50%, Why take a plane?

Range is only 38km though. 23 minute hover time at 100km/h.

Of course i'm not thinking of these things with today's tech, I'm thinking of them with tomorrows, where they can move 600 miles on a charge, hell 200 miles on a charge with a recharge time of 15 mins or less.

The rated weight is 100kg. I currently weigh 98.6kg. does not leave any spare room for my toolkit and PC bag.
Guess I need to lose more weight.

@Dashrender There are already mods out there for normal drones to run on alternate power, so I can see the range increasing pretty simply.

I see something like this replacing the ultralight models that do not need licensing now.
Of course I also see government stepping in and requiring licensing.

That's just it though, the licensing thing. The expense (yeah I'm sure these will be expensive at first too) And they are still huge, you can't really store them in suburbia.

Exactly. I see these types of vehicles tying themselves into a central flight system, you'll simply tell it where you want to go, and it checks with the central computer and away you go. The system tracks you and routes everyone as they need to be moved to be safe.

Many garages in my city can't even hold an F150, let along a folded up small Plane. An ultra-light, sure, when it's really disassembled.

Many garages in my city can't even hold an F150, let along a folded up small Plane. An ultra-light, sure, when it's really disassembled.
The body of this is 2 meters. max length fully extended everything is 4 meters. This is well small enough to fit in almost any garage. The width is the killer on this for an american garage.

I live in a coach home in in suburbia. My garage can easily fit this assuming it folded the propeller arms.
