New Webroot user

Last week, @Nic helped me work with a Malware Problem on our network. He gave sent me a trial key to try to remove the Malware. Sophos ended up resolving it, but I was so impressed with the AV client. I decided to purchase Webroot SecureAnywher Internet Security Complete for my Home PCs and Smart Devices. I am very happy with the Optimizer and other features included with the suite. I cant believe how blazing fast System Scans are. Its really impressive.

Webroot is lightweight and fast.

Webroot is sexy.
I was assisting the collections person at one client with her home laptop (because she was going to be working from home for a while) and noticed she was using Webroot.I noticed they include a password manager. I clicked on it and checked it out. it looks 100% like LastPass.
@Nic is it really a rebranded LastPass? If so, this is yet another reason Webroot is awesome.
-
I like that it has the ability to run questionable software in a protected environment.
-
Awesome. Great to see both IT Pros and vendors benefitting from the community!
-
I purchased 25 endpoint licenses for my Corporate office and have been impressed with the centralized management and literal 3 second installs off a 749kb .exe
This is truly the only AV that can support the legacy hardware on site without bringing them to a crawl.
I wish it had patch management/etc however. I haven't used the password suite as I use Dashlane and can't be more pleased.

My boss was skeptical that it was doing anything at all, such a small footprint.
-
Glad to hear you got the problem fixed @IRJ and that you like the software!
To answer a few questions: yep, it is rebranded LastPass. I've been using it myself since I started working here and am liking the password manager a lot. I'd always meant to use one but never gotten around to it until now
The scans are fast because it is sending everything up to our database for evaluation. It sends up MD5 hashes of the files to see if they are known good/bad, and then it does monitor and journal any unknown processes until a determination can be made. The other piece is behavioral evaluation of unknown processes, to see if they are doing anything suspicious - that way it can catch new variants of existing viruses that mutate to foil signature based AV.
Another nice feature that the complete version of home has is backup & sync. You get 25GB and you have both a sync folder (similar to Dropbox) that can sync across multiple machines. You can also do scheduled backups of specific files and folders.

It's always nice to see a new Webroot user!

NIC, how does the rebranded version of LastPass work when it comes to your mobile phone?
maybe a better way to ask this question is, does it come with the mobile version of LastPass? -

maybe a better way to ask this question is, does it come with the mobile version of LastPass? We have secure browsers for iOS and Android that incorporate the password management. You can find those in the app stores if you search for Webroot.

I havent tried the Backup and Sync yet. Is 25GB enough space to use this feature?

Depends what you want to sync - and there's the option to purchase more space if you want it. I just use it the way I used to use Dropbox, for stuff I need to access from anywhere.
That is the Sync side of it. But 25GB is NOT enough for the Backup side of it for me.
-
Agreed - it isn't going to do a full backup of your machine. But you can backup certain critical components or you can pay for more storage if you want to backup the whole thing. Personally I use BackBlaze for my home backups. $5 per month for unlimited storage per machine.
-
BackBlaze for backups for me too and OneDrive for critical files.
Although very little that I have doesn't originate and live solely on a server.

I must concur, the Webroot Anywhere is great. Nic helped me too and I am so happy with it that I think the wife is going to switch over too. It's smooth and fast and so far, totally unobtrusive!
Thanks Webroot and Nic! -
