Windows 8.1 Update 1 installed but how do i know?

I use PDQ Inventory for this. I can pull custom reports quickly on whatever KB I am looking for. You can also create a dynamic inventory group, which automatically adds PC into that group after the KB(s) are installed.

@IRJ What do you do with a random person on the phone? I do not have internal users with all of these tools installed.

I work from home. I don't have a network. A client calling in is where I use this info.
Thinking about it some more, I can get information from ScreenConnect as soon as we start the session.Also, I know that I can have them just click on the Start button and see if the power icon is on the Start Screen. But seriously, it is the SYSTEM screen......

I forgot you're a MSP and not an internal guy. So my solution wont work for you.

If they have a spy glass next to their name on the start screen, they have the Update.
Additionally, if they have the power symbol (weird almost circle with a line out the top of it), which would be right next to the spy glass for searching. -
I had read about the new update and that the Start Screen would have the Power and Search icons by the username. So I decided to reboot to complete my update. After I logged in, I waited almost 5 minutes staring at 2 black screens before hitting Ctrl Alt Del and I got the screen I expected and I chose task manager. The disc was at 100% and stayed that way for about another 2 minutes before everything was back to normal, well except I was at the desktop and not the Start Screen (as I expected from prior reading)
I unchecked bypassing the Start Screen in Navigation properties and since I have two monitors, I checked show Start on display I am using.!

Reading comprehension is lacking today it seems. You guys say to look on the start screen... I said that... I know that. That is NOT the point.

It isn't a service pack, so I wouldn't expect it to show up on the system properties page.

@Nara I agree that it's not a service pack, but since so much has changed in this last update, it acts more like a service pack, and because of that I believe @JaredBusch has a point, it should show up somewhere.

Also I was under the impression that they are supposedly moving away from the big service packs and towards the update rollout schedule.

I believe that that is true. The big SP thing did not work well, they developed a very unhealthy culture of people reading too much into the SP numbers.
