@WrCombs Congratulations! That is an excellent opportunity. Everyone I have interacted with from NTG has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Happy to count them among my friends now.

Aww thank you. We love you too!

I keep telling @scottalanmiller I don't accept proposals this early in the season. He keeps trying though

If the issue is from a volume of devices, it's not the devices that are the issue. This isn't related to them using iPads, other than they are using lots of devices on wifi all at once. It's not an iPad issue, but a wifi/network issue.

Too much power, overlapping APs, too many APs, all kinds of things can cause issues. Or too few, bad signal, etc.

I thought I read he had 18 iPads, but I don't see that here anymore... that doesn't seem like to many, even for a single AP...

Keep in mind that there are probably gobs of patrons using a guest network on those same APs. It really could be an issue of to many devices using a single AP if they are busy.

I was just about to write this

    • RE: What are you holiday traditions?

A little side story for the holidays: When I was 14 my dad gave me $500 that I could spend on anything for Christmas. Anything I wanted to buy or do he would take me to. I decided to get an eletric acoustic guitar as I felt like I needed an outlet for all of my teenage angst. My brother would always follow in my footsteps and ended up getting his own guitar later down the road (he now works for Pulse in the music industry). Well, he took my guitar one day to his friends house and was showing it off. They left the guitar inside and then went to go play with friends. Upon coming back they found the guitar was gone. One of his friends had taken it but the circumstances didn't really point to anyone specific. Needless to say I was really mad. This Christmas my brother bought me the exact same guitar as a way of apologizing 😄

      I'm swearing at my phone!!!!

The GD Google Nexus 6P has like 5 options for text message notifications - none of them are very loud.

Hack your way into a custom notification?

@Dashrender should record himself swearing and use that as his text notification

      or record @JaredBusch ...

@JaredBusch's recording would be: "Why the hell would you do that?"

This morning, been trying to get a free car I got a few days ago to actually start, an '04 Dodge Intrepid, and it's got sooooo many problems...

@nadnerB World of Tanks is pretty cool, and if you like it, but want a little more realism, and a lot more detail, if you're into stuff that's big on immersion and historical accuracy, try out War Thunder. It's free to play as well, and there isn't as much of the pay-to-win thing going on, and it's a little easier to get up higher in the game, because believe me, if you start grinding to get the better tanks, you'll dump THOUSANDS of hours before getting to the higher tiers.

I only ever got up to Tier6 in World of Tanks. The higher level economy without a premium account is just silly. WoT may be free to play, but it is pay to be able to do anything.... with that few garage slots and even more tech trees coming out soon, it's just crazy time. I much prefer Armored Warfare, and haven't tried War Thunder yet.

I don't play pay to win games

Yeah, that's why I much prefer Armored Warfare. I mostly plat WoT/WoWS for the history value, which means one or two matches a week at most compared to 2-3 a day in AW.

Pay to win is profitable, but I don't get how it can be profitable. If I were a kid and I sat down to play monopoly and someone said "we can play but you start with $10. You need to give me $20 of your own money to start with $1000" I never would have played. It seems really stupid to me.

@Minion-Queen I agree that the individual is what is important. This sort of segways into:

As much as I am a nice person I don't agree with the 'every kid gets a trophy' mentality. As a human being you need to learn what success is, what failure is, and how to handle each of them. I'm not going to teach my kids to chase their dreams and that they are capable of doing anything. I'm going to teach them that every person regardless of race, sex and religion has their own strengths and their own weaknesses. You should make yourself as marketable as possible in a field that lends itself well to your specific skill set.

I respect the fact that everyone thinks they are right the majority of the time. It's kind of part of human nature. The problem as I see it is too few people are open to hearing the opinions of a contradictory viewpoint. My brother-in-law is a very intelligent person, but his weakness is assuming that because he is intelligent his viewpoint must be correct. In ethics, there are always many strong principles and you can absolutely justify each of them strongly even though they are at odds with each other. I try to remember that in my day to day.

I always respect that others may have viewpoints different from me. However, if I ask someone to defend their opinion on something, and becomes a personal attack against me for disagreeing with them, then I will not tolerate that. I have friends on the whole range of political viewpoints, sexuality, etc. As long as we can have that mutual respect for each other, that even if we don't agree, we still show that, I'm fine. I also get really peeved by people who assume that because I'm younger, that I somehow "lack life experience" or "just don't get it". That and the skewed viewpoint that people of my generation are inherently lazy both grind my gears...

In the best scenario where you both respect each others thought process but arrive at different conclusions it's very easy to have mutual respect. It's when you consider your thought process to be accurate and concise while theirs is mixed up and inaccurate that the theory is really tested.

If a good person can do wrong and a bad person can do right then we are only ever judging the actions not the person.
