@thwr I enjoy German, should spend some time to learn it (more than swearing). Good solid chunky language and you can combine words together in delightful way.

Reminds me of physics professors naming things. Blackhole -> hole that is black.

Yepp, but quite hard. It's said to be one of the hardest languages at all, only topped by Chinese, Japanese and other Asian and some African languages.

Try to read a bit about Genitiv and Dativ. We got a learning boardgame here, titled "Der Genitiv ist dem Dativ sein Tod". PITA even for some native speakers.

Let's go for beers and you can teach me new swear words

Would love to. Can't find it right now, but I've posted a screenshot a few days ago. EN->DE translations of to puke. German is a wonderful language, we got like 20 different words and even more phrases for puking.

I think we should arrange a LassiCorp ML event, preferably in central Europe. Seriously, @scottalanmiller, what do you think about that?

It can do that also, but that is not the core implementation of GV. GV has always been a forwarding service.

That's why I was wondering if you just turned off your cell service, would GV just use WiFi?

I don't see how they could block that, but I have read this does not work.

I have no idea what they do with existing accounts, but the GV web page is entirely blocked in the EU. I can't even look at it for information.

Seems to be available here in Germany: www.google.com/voice

I'm looking for something that would not need to connect to a PBX. Purely for non-business usage.

Does such a thing even exist?

No, because a PBX is needed to make the calls connect to the PSTN. Something has to be the translation point.

I used a PBX at home for this, works great. Provides a lot of cool functionality even for home use and you can provide access to family and friends, get video calling, control blacklists and all of that business type stuff that normally you can't get at home.

I also have T-Mobile Wifi calling.

      Asterisks or something else?

Yes, using Asterisk. It's nice because family members can each have an extension, you can use it for family to family calling, you can have desk phones, soft phones, use it from anywhere in the world, etc. Very nice to have, especially for travellers.

Yep, great piece software. You can virtually route between anything.

Curious to know more about the arrangement... and what SDR you chose / why.

Ah, that's no magic at all. RTL-SDR with adrbox (dump1090 before) and a cheap DVB-T USB receiver. Pi-A (behind the touchscreen) is decoding ADS-B. Additionally, it acts as HTTP and VNC server. Pi-B grabs the VNC stream and does a little upscaling.

VNC is in use for a simple reason: I can catch any disconnects and restart the VNC client. That's way harder to accomplish with a browser. At least in the short amount of time I had to build this (roughly two days)

I'll post some instructions on my blog next week.

Awesome - look forward to it. Now,.. back to ripping the truck apart (there are only four more screws....

A few more pics, also showing the new Frontend. Sorry about the quality, just shot them with my mobile.

But I should add that my power cut might simply be coincidence.

Several people claimed there was no power issue, the house didn't loose power, when their problem occurred.

Your problem is bad verbiage. A power cut implies, system on and power failed.

I would assume that since you are intentionally performing this work, the TV was powered off first.

Sadly no - I didn't know if the outlets the TV was on were on the same circuit as where I was adding my new extension outlet. I killed 3-4 breakers before I found the one I needed to kill for the work I was doing. and the wife was watching TV.

Well that is honestly all on you also. I would never live in a house and not know exactly which outlets and lights were on which breakers.

So your new house you're going to make a map of ever outlet and light fixture that is affected by every breaker? Other than MAYBE Scott Allen Miller, I know of no one who's ever done this.

Not saying it's not a good idea, just never hear/seen/helped anyone who has done so before.

I have done it in every house I have ever lived. Rental or owned.

      Same here.

The browser is more like a window to the left of your terminal window. It's OK to upload or download a few files or folders, but a real NC/MC style SFTP/SCP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is still in use on my machine.

Don't get me wrong, I really like small purpose build tools and I'm not really a big fan of Swiss knife solutions - but MobaXterm helped me. Was recommended to me by a guy working for a project partner.

    • RE: VBA Hint Needed - Change Way An Existing Project Grabs Data

@garak0410 Just don't know how to tell it, with VBA, to take each job number in column W and do what it normally did the other way and then put a warning up if it doesn't match exactly and to STOP when it teaches a null cell.

      Little helper function

Function IsNullOrEmpty(val as String) as Boolean
REM Strings are always initialized as "" in VB/VBA/VBS, so checking for Null is redundant. At least In theory.
If (val is Null or val = "") Then
          IsNullOrEmpty = True
        Else
          IsNullOrEmpty = False
        End If
      End Function

To process your values (like @dafyre suggested):

      Dim myRange As Range

      Set myRange = Sheet1.Range("W1", "W5")

      For Each ritem In myRange
        If (IsNullOrEmpty(ritem.Value)) Then
          REM Empty string, processing finished
          Exit For
        Else
REM Do something here with ritem.Value
        End If
      Next

The original script is a bit... ugly. Could be easier to have the XLS with test data only.
