@brianlittlejohn Mostly Chrome, yes. But also tried latest stable Firefox for the same result.

@DustinB3403 yep... Made a post on a similar topic a few weeks ago and got asked by SW if I would like to share some more background info about that. So I did the writing, they did some grammar, that's it. The latest version was sent to SW on last Thursday and it seems like they just missed it.

Problem was, they had their company event exactly the same day the story was auto-queued in their CMS, so no chance to correct it.

    • RE: The World's fastest ISPs & Mobile Networks 2015 as per speedtest.net

@scottalanmiller Probably. I guess you are right, those numbers come from peaking users, it does not represent an average (Germany sucks here, that's not my point. Average here is like 6-16 MBit/s with ADSL2 or 25 MBit/s with cable).

    • NodeBB: Bug with fullscreen youtube player

Whenever I click fullscreen on a youtube video for the first time, it will go fullscreen and stop instantly. Need to reload the thread. After the reload, i can view the video in fullscreen just fine.

Have seen this on different browsers and PCs / Android mobiles. Could be some JavaScript issue maybe.

Just got four new titles from the GOG Summer sale.

Bought Nox, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Total Annihilation yesterday. Great titles, sum was below 6 USD. Summer sale day 2 starts in 4:39h.

@scottalanmiller I know, Eastern Europe got quite some modern infrastructure. But the US on #4? There are people still dialing in with 56K...

I've just been reading about "Kabel Deutschland" (by far the largest internet-over-cable provider here) testing DOCSIS 3.1 with 1 GB/s. I've got FTTB (fibre-to-the-basement) and VDSL2 from the basement to my place. Roughly 130/40 MBit/s down/up here.

I know that some Asian countries have way faster ISPs, but I wonder where those numbers come from.

Um... so traffic just exploded here in the last <40 minutes. Anyone have a guess what is up? I mean like 100-200% increase over an already moderately busy day. And it is late at night in the US.

Are you seeing any referrals in the webserver logs? Often indicates that someone is linking to you.

There's a Spotlight on IT feature online at SW right now. First comment (and that guy is totally right about that!)....

That's a good program. I've never heard of anyone in the US doing it.

Sad thing: It's specific to the German public sector and a few other sectors with collective agreements (German: Tarifvertrag)

NTG would do it. But it's not the kind of thing that Americans are very interested in. We are so conditioned that even two weeks of vacation is a big deal that taking a year off is mind boggling.

Yeah, heard that. 30 days for me right now. 24 is the minimum AFAIK.

I like that idea. not sure about the percentages but yeah could live with that knowing I could have a year out with full pay

Well, it's also possible to save up for 80% within eight years for example. So you'll receive 10% less for eight years and will have 80% of your income during the sabbat year.

Oh, I see. They're holding back your salary then releasing it when you're off. I'd rather have the cash up front. What happens if you don't take any time off?

      You'll get it cash

@Carnival-Boy Don't know all the financial terms in English, sorry. Your employer is basically holding back some of your money up to the point where 100% of your yearly salary is "stored" at the employes side. So yes, free year with health insurance, social plans and so on.

    • RE: Is a Mid Career Sabbatical a Good Idea

We have a program here were you receive up to 33% less of your regular monthly payment for a period of multiple years. In case of taking a sabbat year you'll receive full payment during that time. So after three years at 66% income or 4 years at 25% or 5 years at 20% and so on.

Sure, you could save up that money on your own, but this is a good thing anyway.
