@Dominica Sorry if this threads comes across as condescending. It's not meant to be, as I know @IRJ agrees.

RE: O365: differences between direct purchase and via a partner

It also depends on what it is. Certain types of items are cheaper some places direct and other items, or services, are cheaper through resellers.
What are you talking about? There is no reseller here. O365 Partners are partners, not resellers. The final purchase is always through MS and the price is always the same. Always, no exceptions. Microsoft does not alter the price based on who is your registered partner or if you don't have one. I'm not sure where you are getting these ideas but none of this fits the reality of the MS O365 model.
True, reseller and partner are not the same. I wasn't using the term correctly (although most partners also resell). Partners often can give better pricing, or at least more for the money you spend, whereas resellers often charge the same or a little more. That being said, things like printers especially can often be found cheaper at a retailer or VAR than direct, but it varies from week to week.
That's confusing to discuss printer resellers in a thread about O365 partners.
Well we were talking for awhile in generalities about direct vs partner vs reseller. If you speak on O365, then I can't comment on that as @Minion-Queen handled all the billing. But in general, direct is usually the most expensive way to go.

Thanks AJ, it's not that I can't learn Android as a matter of fact I have an android phone I use to trouble shoot issues on for clients. Notice I just said I have one just for trouble shooting issues? That being said I don't have to do that on my IPhone or even windows phone (though I will readily admit it is very unstable). It really comes down to personal preference.
However IPhone and IOS is super stable because it is Locked down there is good and bad that goes with that. But it is STABLE no question about that from anyone anywhere no matter what you prefer to use.
I didn't say you couldn't learn it. I don't think @IRJ was saying @Dominica couldn't learn Android. The point I was making is that a lot of people buy iPhone for the prestige and because it is, I will admit, in many ways simpler than Android. Prestige is still the single biggest factor outside IT. But you are right, it's preference. I prefer Android, you prefer iOS. In the end, whatever works for the task we have for it best will get the job done.

You could always call AT&T and ask them why there connection doesn't work well when you illegally download torrents. Also could ask them why sharing connections between two people isn't working well. They'll be glad to set you up with another account or even a businesses connection. Heck since its FiOS they probably have a way of doing two connections over a single fiber drop .
Why does torrenting have to be illegal? Just answer the question, not an answer in relation to AJ.
Thank you. Torrenting itself isn't illegal. A large number of Linux distros are distributed this way.

Was suppose to met someone off craigslist to sell a computer. They still haven't shown. Guess wait a bit more before going back home.
that is frustrating. I have a system on CL right now, but I don't expect any takers. Trying to figure out what to do with two XP Pro desktops and two printers.... I might take one of the desktops and make a firewall out of it.

Getting ready to go truck shopping and plan an event for April.
Fun - I'm hoping to not need to do truck shopping for a while. however with the kids getting bigger and getting into (more) sports I'll have to start thinking about something larger than the FLEX we have now.

Work today from 7a-4p and then my other job from 5p-9p.
Well that is no fun on a weekend. However that is a drawback to working in the retail market. something I never wanted to do - nor ever again. I need my weekends...
My full-time job's work week is Tues-Sat. My retail job I work every Monday a full day and most evenings the rest of the week. My only day off each week is Sunday.

I haven't come across many issues with Android unless I install custom roms. LG, HTC, and Samsung have solid versions of Android
Ironically, those tend to be more stable and lightweight. It's just the flashing process that can be risky is all. And even that is very low nowadays.

It could be AT&T controlling your connection either from ya'll using too much data from a home connection or hosting stuff.
I don't know, I've heard this complaint from a lot of people on FiOS. It just seems they are using a really terrible router/modem combo thing.
It really is.

For me stability of what I use on it and need to use work wise is why I am on IOS. I tried Windows Phones and look forward to that being more stable. Phone, email and texting must work at all times and having my Office 365 stuff just work. I don't need or want to customize anything.
You're not really IT though. Android is designed for slightly more technical users. I call iOS the stupid-simple mobile platform. It's designed for your everyday person who wants to get their iCloud account hacked and their nude photos put online for the world to see.
I disagree with this. I have the most non technical users that have Galaxy or LG phones. They can do whatever they need to do on their device. There is just a small learning curve.
Android is far easier than it used to be, and it still not hard. However, the real reason people use iPhones is for the brand. Being able to say "I have an iPhone" is a notoriety variable. People do it for the same reason that 99% (not 100%) of people use Macs. It's a prestige thing. That's, quite honestly, the biggest reason most people use iPhones.

What Cache?
A lot of crappy routers cannot handle the simultaneous connection load of torrents over days and need to be rebooted to clear their connection cache.
What I'm thinking. Verizon claims their routers are good but they suck. I had similar issues before I dropped their router completely when I was in Texas.

Hoping to get an AC router at some point in the future...
Don't worry you want have to worry about 256-QAM and it's constellation or error vector magnitude for a installation of a couple of APs.
Do you even have devices with an 802.11AC to make use of it?
I don't care about the AC part of it as much as the seriously increased range you get even with N with an AC router. A buddy of mine has one and just wow...he has a Netgear Nighthawk...
That's likely due to the annentas. Not that's its 802.11n. 2.4 will have the same range whether 802.11g or n. Its the nature of RF. 5ghz will have much less due to shorter wavelength
Possible, as the Nighthawk series has some beastly antennas. My current router has no physical antennas.

Personally for me if I want a phone just to work and not have to deal with the phone or the interface I go with the iPhone. Just to get work e-mails, calls etc.
If I want a phone I can customize more I'd go with android. I use both iOS and Android here.
My biggest contention with iPhones is the "one button to rule them all" mentality. I can't stand not having a back button. It sounds stupid, but that's my biggest reason. That and NO SWYPE! Couldn't do it. HAVE to have Swype. I wanted to kill something the whole time I had a WP8 for that very reason.

Let's assume for a moment that it was the apt manager who was having these problems... what TOS is he breaking? Torrents themselves are not illegal, they can be used for illegal things sure.. so can Cash... should cash be outlawed (yeah I know some in the government think it should be)?
and are you saying he doesn't have legal right to use the internet because he's a sub-tenant of the one who's paying for the service?
I'm guessing that internet access is part of his lease agreement, and as such is the responsibility of the landlord to solve any fees that should be paid for having sub-tenants on the internet connection.
Unless I've missed a post somewhere here where AJ says he's stealing access from his landlord. There isn't even a formal lease. I guess you would consider it all under the table at this point. He's just a guy helping a friend.
And no, I'm not stealing access. I was given permission to use his network. Using two networks itself is not illegal, or even breaking the TOS of Verizon. If he uses Verizon's router and it's network and had a separate router and network, that doesn't break any TOS. The main reason I do it is because the wireless signal doesn't reach to my part of the house. Not a big house, but lots of plaster, etc.

another thing that keeps people in iPhones is the ecosystem. They already invested heavily into that platform, it's nearly impossible to switch.
I definitely agree older Android devices weren't that great, but newer ones, especially top of the line ones (the only ones that compete with iDevices) work remarkably well, and are on a much more open (though not completely open) platform.
Now to get Google to 'sell' or give away the play store like Amazon does. I've never used the new Amazon phone, but I'm guessing it doesn't come with Google Play, so any of the purchases you made there you won't have unless you root/hack your Amazon phone.
Amazon has their own app store, so I'd have to imagine it goes through that. There must be a way to get a lot of the general Android apps though. Unless they are porting them all over...
