It also appears to count ads that are commented out in code. So it is blocking things that are not there, as well.

I started using it because of @Jaguar so we can all blame him 😛

You should be using uBlock origin instead of ABP. They sold out to advertisers, so they're useless now. uBlock works much better, even blocks ads on Pandora.

      Installing it now

@Mike-Davis said in get Windows 10 product key from BIOS?:

So I tried RWeverything that @JaredBusch recommended, and couldn't find the key. I decided to download ShowKeyPlus since it only displays the key and is way less complicated than RWeverything.

The problem became obvious at that point. "OEM key not present in firmware"

I guess we'll have to try to answer the question about injecting a OEM key on VL install another day... 🙂

I know that OEM keys work with VL installs. I've done it many times with everything from XP to Windows 8.1. Just change the product key, and worst case scenario, you have to call the automated 1-800 number to activate. Absolute case, you have to talk to someone and they'll give you the A-G activation thing in about sixty seconds. Just say you're trying to activate after a reinstall.

Unless your computer is hit with a virus and the files in your "backup folder" are corrupted or cryptolocked. Those changes will sync to Drive.

We've seen this way too often with our customers.

Again. I upload to it manually. There's little chance of me getting a virus like that anyway consider I don't download anything. That's how you get those. @thanksajdotcom probably gets them from his um downloads.

I'm not stupid in how I download. I am quite...selective. I'm also careful.

Ok, so for a comparable HP, you'll spend 2-3x what the Brother is upfront for the unit, plus the toners are less efficient (as a rule), so you will spend more on toners for less pages. Every cost analysis I do, as a rule, keeps Brother in the lead for efficiency.

Mike Shinoda is a CRUCIAL part of Linkin Park. He's what makes them stand out as a band. Chester can really sing, and Mike can rap. That combo makes them unlike any other band.

I agree it makes them stand out, I was just thinking that, but I'm just saying as far as my taste goes, I don't really like it. Music is extremely subjective, obviously.

Also, 90s rap wasn't my thing. I've also yet to find a black rapper I like. That's not a dig at black people, but that style is just not something I enjoy listening to.

There's a lot of different types of hip hop. What about hispanic rappers like Big Pun?

I get what you mean though, I like aspects of this song I can't really explain:

      Youtube Video – [01:10..]

Hey, that's why music ranges to the degree it does. Everyone likes different things, and has different combinations of groups they like.

I had an HP 4250 that had 2.5 million prints. If you maintain them correctly, they last for a ridiculously long amount of time.

Yeah, IF being the key word.

No one has ever put a feed roller or anything into this printer as far as I know. And our printer guy has refused to touch the printer.

Also they don't make the maintenance kit for this printer any more (from a brief search)

One thing I can say is don't ever try to purchase third party maintenance kits. I bought some rollers from china just to see and never again.

This. NEVER buy knock-off toners. In my experience, they often leak, break the machine, or, at best, give you far less pages than an OEM.

@DustinB3403 thats good because the manufacturers put chips in them and 1 out of every 7 at my old job (third party toners) straight up didn't recognize the toner and would not work. I would have to return them every couple of weeks by shipment. Complete waste of time and money.

This. Also, non-OEM are generally refurbished OEM cartridges, so you're taking fresh, non-OEM toner and putting it in a cartridge that has run its life course and trying to make it work? Bad idea...

      • When an external is brought in, Often it is a deliberate decision to save costs by removing the internal team afterwards. Regardless of competence, performance or anything else, the decision just boils down to money saved, not what delivers the best return on investment.

This may be true, but not something I see in the real world. I'm not sure I've actually ever seen this first hand as an MSP, but I've seen it from internal IT people that think it is happening. I'm not totally sure that I know any internal people that were replaced with an MSP, but I'm certain it happens. But commonly? I'm not sure about that. It's repeated as a fear a lot, but of the MSPs and internal people here (which is everyone), how many of you had an MSP brought in and then had them replace you OR were brought in as an MSP and you replaced the people that were already there?

As an MSP, we've done attrition fill ins often (replacing people who leave) but not replacing people who still work there. Sometimes it's to let someone working in IT to move into management or something else, but that's IT attrition even if not corporate attrition.

To be honest, I've more often seen MSPs replaced by in-house IT because, on paper, it costs less to just pay one guy to deal with everything and be forced into a jack-of-all-trades situation than to pay the MSP price for the added value.

Wouldn't the EdgeRouter X work here, as well?

Possibly better if you need more than 3 ports. I had to return my ER-X, and they didn't have any of them left in stock.... so I went home with an EdgeRouter PoE instead.

Three should be fine. Two WAN ports and a port for an AP, and I'm good.

@aaronstuder said in Why Choose AetherStore Over a NAS?:

      @scottalanmiller Normally a 128GB SSD drive.

So you'd need 40 SSD's at 128GB free space for 5TB usable storage. Which means you either need more SSD's in your organization, or to get larger capacity SSD's.

Which approach would be better depends on if SSD prices take a dive, or your business grows and gets more equipment to add to the store.

Personally, I think the 240/256GB SSD is the sweet spot as of this posting. For bang to buck, it's the best value I see. Most Windows installs are 20-40GB, which leaves us close to 200GB for programs, apps, and data. Most users will use a small fraction of that, and the price difference between a 128GB and a 256GB is usually quite small, so in the future, I'd probably say 240/250/256GB SSDs are the way to go.
