Wordpress Links Breaking Website
So I'm going to put this here so that it might help someone else. I tried changing the Permalinks format on my site from the default "?p=123" to anything else. Anytime I did, I got an error. Doing some research, I found I needed a .htaccess file, which wasn't being generated automatically. So I created it in vi and gave it permissions to be written to. I've tried this before though, and yet any non-default permalinks style breaks my site. I finally found the solution. In this link:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/solved-permalinks-working-in-apache2-ubuntu-1010#post-2421733Now the link has the right setting but that file didn't have what I needed. Using some powers of deduction, I went up a level and modified the apache2.conf file in /etc/apache2. If you go about 80% of the way down, you'll see (not gonna type everything):
<Directory /var/www/>
AllowOverride None
</Directory>Now, there are multiple Directory containers so get the right one. Change None to All. After that, run service apache2 restart. I'm running Ubuntu Server 14.04 as a LAMP server, so, that's what I have to do. Basically, restart apache. After I did that, with my .htacess file in place, everything works! Hope this helps someone else!
Thanks,

RE: Fixing My Resume

Size looks good. Look at some of the small edits that I made in some of those posts. You still want to trim back pointless words and stuff.
Ok, went back and fixed all that. So, that being said, how's it look?

If You Stay Up Later, It's Probably Because You're Smarter

I found this article somewhat interesting. I would say, though, that by these standards, I'm smarter than Einstein, but maybe it doesn't work like that...lol

Going Back to Staples?
So I received some information today that is so incredibly fulfilling, I can't even explain!
I stopped in at Staples yesterday to say hi and just show my face. I talked to my former tech supervisor who proceeded to tell me sales were great, computer work was great, and things were fine and doing just well without me and how I made his life difficult when I was there and that is he was basically better off without me.
However, the narrative I've heard from others is very different. My former GM called me and texted me today saying he has a "business proposal" for me. I also heard, through the grapevine, that the sales manager is fed up with the tech supervisor!
I received these from my former co-worker and friend:
"Come in and talk to <name removed> if you want your job back! She just talked to me about offering you it back! And she doesn't care who gets pissed if you come back. ..she needs numbers and you guarantee it!"Followed by...
"He's being an ass...<name removed> is so fed up with him not selling ****, not getting computers done in a good time frame and just not listening."For me, this just proves what I told them when I left, which was that they wouldn't realize how much I did until I was gone. I have the leverage here, which also makes me happy. I got a callback from another job as well, but that's not for certain and I won't know anything about that for AT LEAST a week!
So my question is...given all the variable, would it make sense to go back to Staples? If I go back, I can work on getting long-term work history on my resume, and I already know the job and are good at it, and most of all, I enjoy it. I would not go back for my previous pay and would negotiate a significant raise. I knew that they would miss me but I did NOT expect this, and so was taken a bit off-guard.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

RE: SD and SSD - Is there really a huge technological difference?

So I'm having an interesting conversation with someone, being told I'm wrong and such, that SSD offers superior write speeds over SD, even the HC 10 type.
I guess I'm a little ignorant then, because I thought flash memory was the same technologically, but had different use cases. If anyone has some info that they would like to point me to I'm going to do some reading and research on the topic, and possibly write something up.
here's an article that sort of sparked it:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3053/~/the-differences-between-an-ssd-and-a-memory-cardI guess a major difference would be the controller, that SSDs have chipsets on them and use SATA as opposed to SDHC/SDXC cards that use readers, internal or external. To me, being dependent on a reader, as SD cards are, is the bottleneck. SSDs use SATA connections, and mostly SATA III. That's one major difference I can think of.
Lets take this out a little further. You have an IP camera that has a built in SD card interface. Is it faster to write to a quality SD card locally on the IP camera or is it faster to send it over the network to a NVR that has an SSD? I would think local storage would win out. Am I thinking of this incorrectly?
The bottleneck would become your network connection. Every hop it goes through, every foot of cable it runs over, etc. Every bit of that is room for slowdowns. It would depend.

Race to 4 digits!
So since I've joined this site I've been posting like a madman. @scottalanmiller has a reputation of being someone who not only can't be matched but someone who can't be beat (in pretty much everything IT he does). I've been trying to outpost him and for a while I was maintaining about a 100 post lead over him. Well, that went bye bye on Monday I think it was. Today has been a back and forth and as of this writing I believe I'm 9 posts ahead. Will I be able to match him long term? With my schedule, no. However, I would love to make it to 1000 first. Because of my schedule the next two days I doubt that will happen but I can dream...however, I must say, it has felt good to be keeping pace with Scott at least for the past week or so. I love how fast the interface is on this community. I love the atmosphere. I love the freedom you have here. Heck, even @psx_defector posts and I don't believe he's actually had a post deleted yet. Yes he [modded] about having his naughty words modded but the whole spirit of this community is amazing!
To the admins, @addie and @steve, all I can say is thank you. Thanks for everything about this place and keep it going! To the rest of you and me included, let's make this community something to be proud of. For all of us here and those to come!

RE: Re- Training
Think about it: he didn't call, he didn't try to fix beyond step 1, and he was ready to leave something not working broken. All that spells disaster. You could never trust him if he continues to act that way. Tell him to get his head where it needs to be or he won't have a job. It's not personal. You are managing a business. That's all it is.

How did the interview this morning go?
I have an offer letter in hand and just need to complete the drug screening (which I'm doing in about forty minutes) and I'll be good to go! The guy seems very excited to have me onboard.

Yesterday we had meeting with our Prod.Head.
The supervisor who used to went at our apartment and the guy. He is trying to cover his mistake. He makes us his scapegoat. Telling them that he is shy to ask me or call me ( because we are not close he said ) I don't understand because during days we are all okay. we can used to joke each other, we even go out with the whole team last time when our team won in company event, he even shared me about his family and some personal issues)
/ and for the person from production he said there's no complete information.Had a bit of a hard time reading that but I got the gist. So he was just trying to make excuses for what he did? If that's the case, he needs to go. His attitude is totally out of line, and when he was confronted, he didn't try to fix the situation or accept what he had done. He tried to say how it wasn't his fault. No, he needs to be let go. Start interviewing new candidates.

RE: Firefly - This is how I feel
@psx_defector and @dengelhardt took me to Twin Peaks the other night. I had no idea what it was. For some reason, I was thinking Twin Trees which is a very average pizza place in my hometown. It was not what I was expecting...let's just put it that way.
