Great way to start out a Friday: OMSA says one disk is predicted to fail. Backups are good, so marked it offline, swapped it with the spare, now waiting for rebuild to complete.
I will also chime in and say that Udemy is great. I have been very impressed with how thorough the content for the courses I have purchased has been. Definitely worth the money if you ask me.
I also got a notification from haveibeenpwned that quite a few of our user's email addresses were affected. What a perfect way to start out a Monday!
I've had great success with various editions of SyncBack. Currently using SyncBack Free at home and have used SyncBack Pro here with our file server, before we started using Veeam.

Everywhere in Upstate NY there are Christmas decorations up. This is ridiculous.
How about this for ridiculous:
One of my friends said that they started playing Christmas music on one of his favorite radio stations 1-2 weeks ago, so he has been listening non-stop during his car rides.
@jmoore Based on our experiences with using it since 2001, I've found that the only thing it is quick at is frustrating the people who are stuck using and/or supporting it.
Of course, that could partially be due to our company file being 1.29 GB in size...
Looking at purchasing a OnePlus 7T to replace my current Nexus 6P. Really like the specs on it, and the price is right around what I want to spend.
@Dashrender Further to what @WrCombs quoted above, it was a hospital stay for a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung). Scary experience that I don't want to repeat ever again.
Back to the office after 3 unwanted days off. Only 415 emails and 1 voice mail waiting for me.
Just updated to 0.4.2-i. As always, quick and painless!
I really need to get in the habit of checking every day...

Got discharged from the hospital a couple hours ago. Doctor said pain would unfortunately be around for a few weeks, and put me on a blood thinner for at least 6 months.
They still don't know what caused the clot, since I have no risk factors for it, no family history, no injuries and no recent foreign travel. I have a feeling many doctor appoints will be in my short term future...
My brother got a blood clot just due to not exercising and sitting too much
I know I don't exercise as much as I should, so I suspect the doctor is going to rip into me about that at my check-up tomorrow.
Especially since there is no family history - I obviously need to make some changes.

Damn. At least you are okay!
Thanks - I'm still breathing, so I'll deal with a bit of pain until the clot disolves.

Stuck in a hospital room until at least tomorrow after spending the night in the ER. Doctors say it is a pulmonary embolism / blood clot. Fun times

Got my copy of Freespace 2 last night and started looking into the Source Code Project, since I've read that it adds quite a bit more life to the game.
My only issue now is that I no longer own a joystick and I can't stand trying to play games using keyboard and mouse for flight controls. Might be time to look at purchasing one...
I'd forgotten about that. One of the really nice ones if you're into the story is that they ported FS1 into the FS2 engine, so you can play through that campaign without having to track down a copy of FS1.
I'll definitely have to check it out - I remember playing Descent 1, 2 and 3, but not the Freespace titles.
A brief look at some of the other mods / campaigns / total conversions leads me to believe that this could be installed on my games SSD for quite some time...

@Kelly Nice find - I keep forgetting to check GOG for classics like this. I honestly can't remember if I played it when it came out, so it looks like I'll be adding another game to my library. Teenage me had a pretty terrible PC and no money back then...
Been wanting to learn Node.js for a while, so I'm starting "The Complete Node.js Developer Course" on Udemy
@Ylian said in Comparing MeshCentral 2 to ScreenConnect:
@srsmith MeshCentral developer here. There is no Android application for MeshCentral, it just going to be the mobile web site. It's not a feature full as the desktop site, but should get the basics (and supports NFC/Bluetooth two-factor authentication on Android Chrome). Let me know if you try it and what you think of it.
Unfortunately, my experience with desktop access from mobile was not so great. I tried using Firefox and Chrome on Android and couldn't do much. When the phone is in portrait mode, the desktop is too small to use for me, and in landscape, the screen is cutoff. Am I missing an option to zoom / pan somewhere? If this is something that you can easily add, I'd love to see it added. Mobile access is by no means a necessity, so please don't take time away from the core product if you think this would be fairly involved to implement.
On a positive note, the group/computer list, general and files sections worked perfectly from mobile.
