I'm hoping to fit a reread of the Stormlight Archive in over Christmas along with Sanderson's Skyward (going to have to fight for time with that one with my 14 year old).

I just started book 2. Book 4 is due out this coming year along with the last Wax and Wayne near in time.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about what he posted yesterday. Knowing that Stormlight Archive is only 4 of 10 kind of put things into perspective. Sanderson probably has a large group of people hoping for his continued health and well being.

Sanderson's Stormlight Archive, I'll have to check it out.

I read the Mistborn series before I started this. I had a bit of a stutter getting into this after Wax and Wayne. I started getting into it about half way through the 1st book.
I wish he would extend Wax and Wayne further -- beyond 4 total books. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Dunno if this will help or not, but Guru3d's download section used to have some decent tools for graphics cards
Honestly, I haven't checked in quite a while.

We have 21 guests on 2 ESXi servers. I login to the app for each server, hit each VM console, login & shutdown. Takes the better part of 10-15 minutes for each server.

Restart the server. Wait 5-10 minutes. Login to the management app.

I do this every 3-4 months. It seems to keep things even.

@Dashrender Ok but why is there authentication on printing? Is there a problem with someone printing when they should not be? Just looking for details as I've never done this before.

I had to enable this years ago. Printing was out of control. User accountability was cited. We used AD and tied the printers into the login. Each user had individual printers mapped. I realize that this is nowhere near efficient, but it was pushed this way by the powers that be. No biggie once it was done. We don't have huge numbers of new users or user changes that it's a pain.

Anyone have screen shots on how to make a local account during log in with Windows 10? Got a user trying to set it up and all it will do is offer them online accounts.

Choose to setup on domain. At least that's what I've done.

So you choose the opposite and it gives you local?

Choose domain account and you get the 'older' style of account setup. After you get a local account, you'll be joined to workgroup in workgroup mode and then you could join a domain if desired.

      Go figger

We buy paper by the pallet. Thus the need for controlling printing abuse.

Do you try and get so granular with the controls that you limit who can print in color or in black and white only? Or do you simply have a control in place (individual user pins) so you can generate reports and see who is printing at whatever quantities?

No. Just a reports. Costs are mostly known. If things get out of whack, we check the reports and see if there's a need for a change in behavior. Nothing draconian, just keeping things copacetic.

If anyone deals with Citgo, the credit/debit cards probably won't work. I'm heading to our sites and am opening a ticket with the payment processor (ControlScan -- fna EchoSat).

      Hi,

Anybody here using restaurant purchasing system? what purchasing system are you using?

What are you looking for exactly - Restaurant Purchasing Systems - What does that mean exactly?

the system will document the food items that will be bought. it will also keep track of history requisitions. some system are attached to the inventory system. but we are just looking for a purchasing system for now.

oh you're looking more to track inventory?

not yet inventory, just purchasing system. inventory systems are a nightmare.

      FTFY

So the usual inventory is - you buy 100 pcs, the users will dedect 1 pc when they use it. Now on food, you buy 1 box of cooking oil, the box has 12 cans inside, the user will use 200 grams. So you need to swim on a freaking conversion table from box to grams. LOL.

Pricebook, recipes, costing, retail, physical inventory--retail vs cost, .... It gets nasty

I used to have an Atari -- it was a white keyboard that I hooked up to a TV and a tape player. I don't even remember anything else about it. I made a lightening bolt flash on the screen with thunder.
I thought it was cool at the time.

Sounds like the Atari 400, I would guess.

I honestly don't remember. I got it as a gift and learned to do a little coding from the user manual. I'm not even sure what language it used when I wrote the code (copied from the manual). Hell, for all I know, the wife could have it sequestered away from me in a closet.
I'm pretty sure that I have a color Panasonic 24pin dot matrix printer somewhere. I'll have to do a search & destroy this year for spring cleaning.

When we upgraded our phone system (many years ago) and finished the cutover, we could hear the phones ring and one of the girls yelled up the steps "The phones are ringing, what do we do?"
Me "It's a phone. Answer it."

      using arp -s xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx nn-nn-nn-nn-nn

Where xxx is the IP Address and nnis the MAC address.

For some reason it's not working.

For some devices, you'll need to ping with a specific packet size or attempt to telnet on a specific port to bind/activate the address. Consult the docs. Change is the only constant.

Also from an administrative cmd prompt, you could run start /w cleanmgr.exe and get rid of stale update files, old installations, ... I usually keep dump and log files. It takes a while for a restart if you remove any update files because it rebuilds your updates database during restart.

      that scares me.

      Shinobi Open Source NVR/DVR software

I found this yesterday.... just wondering if anyone has tried it.

I glanced at the docs and didn't see support for H.265. Everything else looks ok.

Next time I get an extra box, I might spin it up. Too busy right now.
