Beautiful bird! I love parrots, but don't like cleaning up after them. My roommate in NY had a cockatiel named Kramer that used to poop all over the apartment. 😞

You can train them pretty easily to go mainly on their cage. it's not fool proof, but 80% or more.

@scottalanmiller I've never seen you have to disable security for on-premise Exchange. I would know. 😛

You do. Obviously, as the issue is lacking TLS.

@scottalanmiller I understand. But he was saying that changing some settings was supposed to allow you to use Office365 like someone uses their on-premise Exchange, which is confirmed to work natively no problem (on-premise Exchange). That's what I'm saying.

Even on premise doesn't work properly. You have to disable security for it to work. Office 365 just doesn't allow to violate that best practice.

Email support has always been an issue. Would not be surprising if they weren't aware of what was or was not working.

We've reported in SW and it was confirmed not to be working. So, in theory, they are aware.

The relay is everything. It's like saying you car can fly.... When you pack it in a crate and put it on an airplane. It's the airplane that flies. The car is cargo.

Unitrends supports the relay, but not Office 365. The relay supports Office 365.

@dashrender Yea, it's just weird because I've been told by the installations technical lead specifically that it works on their system (they use Office365) but again, I believe that they have a relay setup and he may be confusing that. Other senior installers that I've talked to have said they aren't aware of it being supported at this time. shrugs

That's not what you said up above. When you quoted them they very implicitly said that it did not support it. You then changed the words around and said that it did. You've delivered two different messages from them. If they said "relay" then they clearly told you that there was no support.

@Dashrender You may be able to add another repo to pull it from. I believe the .repo files go in /etc/yum.repos.d/ if I remember right.

They do but you might as well run Fedora if you are going to go down this route. Running CentOS this way would be foolish.

Why would running CentOS this way be foolish?

There is a purpose to CentOS focused on stability. If you want bleeding edge don't shoehorn that into CentOS. It isn't built for it. You'll just increase risk. You are trying to mix concepts. Fedora is bleeding edge and all the parts match. CentOS is for stability and all the parts match. Don't mix and match or you make it worse than if you had chosen either / or.

I didn't see it here, but did anyone mention that updates to the Unitrends appliance will also reset the default port 25 for SMTP? If you use the work-around, you'll need to repeat it after every time you run updates.

You could use a script or a tool like cfEngine to override that. But it is extreme the degree to which it does not support Office 365. Far more than just lacking support. It actively breaks it. The OS itself supports it.

@scottalanmiller I'm aware. I've had it insisted to me that it works but a lot of installers are saying it doesn't. I'm pretty sure it doesn't but will try a couple more things to confirm before I go back and confirm it still doesn't.

"It works with a relay" is marketing for "it's not supported yet". You just have to learn to hear when someone says something that sounds positive on the surface but is actually a negative. They were telling you that it doesn't work.

It might be helpful for other people like myself that find and use your guide to install Mediawiki on CentOS if you add

Yum list 'mediawiki*' so people can find the name of the current version. *but now that I run it, it appears that yum does not have the current version 1.22.3

It would not have the latest. That's not how CentOS works. They don't change release versions once the OS is out. This is enterprise server here, not an SMB system. This is anything but bleeding edge. Every package is frozen for ultimate stability.
