    • CentOS 7 mirrors operation too slow.

      Getting this timeout errors on several CentOS servers hosted on Vultr. It basically goes through the mirror list until there are no more mirrors to try and the update fails.

      Just setup a traffic-policy shaper to test:

      20% bandwidth for voip guaranteed with a ceiling of 100% bandwidth
      30% bandwidth for USERS PC guaranteed with a ceiling of 100% bandwidth
      50% bandwidth for ALL others guaranteed with a ceiling of 100% bandwidth

      Does this sound reasonable?

    • QoS on Edgerouter Lite

      I have been using the Smart queue for the office, to my knowledge and testing QoS is working properly as VoIP has been working without issues during heavy download periods. I have been even having a call during these times and the call was crystal clear. A couple of users are reporting very slow web browsing around the time of the downloads and considering they use mainly web apps this is affecting them.

      Is there something I could do to help this? Can regular http file downloads even be tagged/categorized as something different than regular web browsing?

      Router is an EdgeRouter lite running v 2.0.6
      Internet from AT&T 50 / 50
      Files downloaded are 4GB+ files from azure

      Maybe try a different QoS method?

      @DustinB3403 Windows, its actually a small office so around 6 computers with the same issue, 3 - windows 7 and 3- windows 10.

      Some settings we have:

      Driver download says duplex is on by default:

      I would still think with the settings as we have them it should print double-sided.

    • Forced Double Sided Printing

      We have a client that owns a HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdn, even though driver settings are set to not do double sided printing it still keeps trying to do so. Duplex setting in the printers control panel has duplex disabled by default as well not sure why this is happening.

      Has anyone experienced something like this and know wtf could be happening with this printer?

      So this started happening on monday, after having the phone working previously without issues no network changes made on the users lan according to them.

      The usual registration process should look like this:

      1. Phone sends REGISTER without Authorization header or with a stale one.
      2. PBX sends 401 Unauthorized with a nonce.
      3. Phone sends REGISTER with an Authorization header containing a hash calculated with above nonce.
      4. PBX sends 200 OK.

      Yet I am only seeing:

      The responses from the phone seem to be normal except one thing:

      CSeq: 1 REGISTER
      

      The CSeq value on a working registration is incremental but on this extension every single response is marked as being #1.

      Logs only show as the Challenge being sent but apparently no proper response received so the phone won't register.

      The more 24/7 they are, the more important that they update and reboot regularly to ensure uptime. Otherwise even simple patches might create extended downtimes when least desired.

      @scottalanmiller I totally know, but they still don't like to reboot.

      Last scheduled reboot was on the 15th where I patched as much as it let me. Since they are a 24/7 shop they hadn't patched or rebooted in a while. Currently, there is another reboot for patches pending.

      Regarding the antivirus, webroot is installed.

    • Chrome Freeze ups on RDS server

      So we have been experiencing a lot of Chrome freeze ups on an Windows 2016 RDS server and don't seem to figure out what is the cause of this. The freezes stop for a while after a server reboot, but after around week they start happening for the users again.

      Along with chrome freezing up, the explorer.exe process also freezes from time to time also causing the need to restart the process in order for the users to keep working for a while.

      Chrome has been reinstalled as well.

      Any idea on this sort of issue?
