      @scottalanmiller I cannot help but feel a bit like I'm being attacked. {salesdick?}

That particular line was from @RojoLoco who is not known for mincing words in general.

^^^Truth. I refuse to mince words because I mean what I say, online or otherwise. @virtualrick, I'm not attacking you personally, I refer to every salesperson as a "sales dick". I have no use for "sales" staff in my research endeavours, and I refuse to let my decisions be swayed by them. I only posted because I, along with many others here in this community, would like to help you learn how to sell to actual IT pros, not directors/C-levels/etc. We are the ones who implement and use any given technology, and we have a certain approach and a certain set of criteria we look at when researching new technologies. Even the best product/service/technology is ruined by bad sales techniques, and we love it when vendors hear and understand that. If someone wants pricing, provide it without argument or further harassment from your sales staff. We thrive on specs and pricing, because that allows us to make our own comparisons. Save the Gartner magic bullshit and buzzwords for someone else.

Do you really need that kind of horsepower in a Chromebook? I'm not knocking the amount of RAM... but an i7 is a bit overkill, isn't it? -- Unless you're running hefty Android apps or something.

Maybe this type of device will encourage the development of heftier apps for chrome os... Video/audio stuff, graphics, etc. I'd run Reaper on a Chromebook like this to record multitrack audio... Assuming the audio hardware drivers existed.

Both. Apples and oranges comparison.... FG is random, cut scene humor, while SP is sharp social satire. <-- don't try to refute this statement until you have watched ALL of the newest season of SP.... and if it offends you, we can't be friends. It's a beautiful treatise on the current state of the US, in terms of everyone being overly sensitive and super offendable. Seth MacFarlane writes great, crass, random humor, but Trey and Matt provide the sharpest satire on tv.

Calling the Google phone a Huawei is like calling the iPhone a Foxconn.

If you called an iPhone a Foxconn in the US, nobody would buy it. That's nothing but sales-dick shystery... I mean, marketing. "Huawei" has zero "cool" points in the US, so they re-brand it. So, while the Google phone is exactly, 100% a "Huawei" phone that has been sales-dickified. Um, I mean rebranded.

Careful the last time you used such phrase-ery you offended a sales .... guy.

If I was actually worried about offending sales.... staff.... I'd eat a bullet.

I have to have missed something.

I speak my mind with blunt honesty.... vendors don't really like it... SW hates it, and modded me out of existence for it. And I refuse to apologize for any of it, because the vendor was in the wrong.

Oh, nothing I do not know already.. thought it was something new.

Might be, I've quit keeping track of my enemies.

@marcinozga said in Apple locking down iPhone batteries:

The title is nothing but a click-bait. Apple is not locking down batteries, it's displaying a message that it's unable to diagnose battery health, which is not surprising, since replacement batteries are probably lacking diagnostic chip that's present in original batteries. Your replacement battery will continue to work just fine.

Yes, but Apple has talked about actually locking out 3rd party parts before

Do you have source for that claim? I know they did that with fingerprint readers, but that was a valid move. They do make their hardware harder and harder to fix, but I don't recall any claims that they were actually blocking 3rd party parts, with some exceptions where it would compromise security, like with above fingerprint reader.

They could even claim 3rd party batteries are dangerous (they can be).

They are dangerous... to Apple's profit margin. They didn't spend a gazillion ad dollars creating their whole "pay more for it because it's what all the cool kids use" thing so you could save a few bucks on a battery replacement. I'm actually shocked that they haven't announced that installing 3rd party batteries voids your warranty.

Easier said than done. I'd be willing to give it a try, but it's kinda hard as a single male 😛

I am 40 years old and have NO desire to have my own children. I rent them from time to time from my wife's siblings, but uh, no thanks on having them myself.

A-friggin-men. I'm 41 with no kids, so I have free time and disposable income. It's a great combo when you want to travel or go out to eat somewhere nice (like nice places where kids do not belong... if you are paying $20-30 plus for an entree, leave your progeny with a sitter).
