@dustinb3403 No I'm not? Where did I say anything about the current ISP's changing their behaviors? It's entirely realistic that a community driven provider could spring up from all of the uproar and we all just jump ship from the bad providers. I never said anything about existing ISP's all of a sudden acting ethically, not sure where you're getting that from.

RE: FCC Net Neutrality Insanity Continues
@coliver I mean I suppose that's possible, but you could say the same thing about anything that's going to upset large scale service providers in any industry. When cable/dish subscriptions started losing out to a la carte packaging from other sources they just had to adapt for instance.

@dustinb3403 Not sure how that remotely is related...

RE: FCC Net Neutrality Insanity Continues
Might be incredibly naive of me, but is there a world in which they pass this nonsense and nuke net neutrality, then an ISP is started that doesn't follow in step with these terribly unethical practices and a lot of providers see a huge loss of business as a consequence of their own actions?

RE: Spectrum Outage: Or what I'm dealing with this morning
I have a friend who just moved into an apartment and signed up for their service, immediately having service issues. Apparently they have locations that haven't had service for a week+.

RE: Windows Internals 7th Edition
@scottalanmiller Honestly just an "under the hood" view to get a better understanding of how everything functions in the environment. It's possibly overkill, but I didn't feel like it'd be wasted time spent or knowledge. Also again if/when i move to the Linux world, it seems like it'd be good to have a base of what differs at the kernel level.

RE: Windows Internals 7th Edition
@scottalanmiller Increased general knowledge of how the OS actually handles various tasks, particularly with iSER, task/job scheduling, and resource allocation.

RE: Windows Internals 7th Edition
@scottalanmiller Not looking at administration currently.

RE: Windows Internals 7th Edition
@rojoloco That'd be surprising....I mean even if/when I move to Linux Engineering I'll still need documentation and resources to read on the kernel.

RE: Windows Internals 7th Edition
@scottalanmiller Gotchya. I'm not necessarily looking at it from a development standpoint at the moment, more so a deep dive knowledge wise on the kernel, memory queues, and I/O processing from an engineering perspective. I couldn't find anything else that covered all of that info besides this and it seemed like it'd give a pretty good amount of info regarding what I was looking for. Anything else you'd recommend?

RE: Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play
Not sure if it's regional, but Target has a buy 2 get 1 free deal on games currently(unfortunately excluding the Switch). We snagged FFXV, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Injustice 2.

Windows Internals 7th Edition
Considering snagging a copy, has anyone read this edition or past editions and do you have an opinion on it as a resource?

RE: Websites like Mangolassi or Spiceworks
@scottalanmiller It's ridiculous, and then in the midst of all that you end up with an inevitable pissing contest of people arguing semantics that no one even has clarification on yet because the OP hasn't actually identified the circumstances surrounding the issue.
-
RE: Websites like Mangolassi or Spiceworks
@scottalanmiller This is very much a pet peeve of mine w/Spiceworks. If you've not spent all of 5 minutes researching an issue I'm not helping you. Also if you can't articulate what you're actually needing help with I'm not wasting 30 minutes of posting to get clarification in order to assist you.

The implementation of an Azure Stack would be something to get our heads around for the time being.
Hopefully it is better than the actual Azure system!
It is Azure, same thing, but you have a physical node on-prem. You pay for the hardware, and you get Azure a little cheaper, but it's fully managed by them.
It's really only for remote places with bad bandwidth imho.
Think like, needing cloud from an 18-wheeler in a remote location.
This sounds like a crappy version of the AWS Snowball

RE: Configuring Multi-Resilient Volume with Storage Spaces
Should be noted that any server running 1709 cannot be added to S2D pools as it stands currently since it's not considered production ready....

RE: Active Directory - Scripting the adding/removal of users to group
@anthonyh You're fine I'm also half dead from a head cold/sinus infection, I just reread the post. Query the groups you're wanting, run a foreach loop against the results, then an if/else statement with the -like switch against whatever the domain is you're wanting to filter to specify your action.
