      Multiple subnets in your home?

I have 3 subnets at home. Main, IoT, and guest.
I need to upgrade to the ER4. My ERLite has been great so far though. My ISP connection is 120/5.

I am thinking of doing something similar to your setup. ER-X, UAP-AC-Lite, with cloud key and Netgear 8 port POE switch.

Was thinking about 3 VLANS, as I want to separate work laptops from the girls/Roku's, and camera's (coming soon). Plus I will be adding a 2nd AC Lite to the other side of the house. Not a big house but with an aluminum awning and other obstacles, connection speed drops in half in only 30'.

      And there's the issue.

My parents just let me starve.

Same here. The problem was when I was in wrestling during 7-10 grade, I had a pretty small diet due to trying to always make weight. I feel bad for my mother now because of the crap I put her through in this are. It kinda went like this:

Me: "Man, were having that again!" (think pork chops braised in peach juice. YUCK).
Mom: "You don't like it you don't have to eat it."
      Me: "OK, no problem"
Mom: "You don't get nothing else either"
Me: "Ok, have to make weight" Leave dinner table and go outside or to bedroom.

      Next morning:
Mom - "Your dinner from last night is still waiting"
Me - "That's ok you can eat it for lunch. Still not eating that!"
Mom - "Nope, your eating that!"
      Me - "Nope"
Mom - "You don't get anything else until that's gone"
Me - "Ok, it will go bad before I eat again then"
      Mom - "Fine"

After that incident, I didn't have to eat those type of pork chops ever again.

Longest stretch we did this for was three days and yes, I didn't eat anything but did have water and OJ. Major PITA for my mom to deal with.

Unfortunately Mom gave in. She was happy when I stopped wrestling. πŸ™‚

As Jared said - no, it's not a double NAT, at least not in my example

I was only thinking of double NAT, as the ISP uses private 10.x and you use private 172.16.x and that would create a double NAT. My bad.

I need some assistance understanding in general, and we'll use a ER-X for specifics in the following scenario.

ISP will provide /29 of usable IPs (125.25.25.6/29)
      Static assignment 125.25.25.1 - 172.16.16.200.11
      Static assignment 125.25.25.2 - 172.16.16.200.12
      Static assignment 125.25.25.3 - 172.16.16.200.13
      Static assignment 125.25.25.4 - 172.16.16.200.14
      Static assignment 125.25.25.5 - 172.16.16.200.15
      Static assignment 125.25.25.6 - 172.16.16.200.x (all others)
ISP connection to your router will be over non public routable connection 10.100.100.2/30
      ISP Default Gate 10.100.100.1
Internal network will be NATed 172.16.200.x/24

Assuming Port 0 is the WAN port, I assume we'll assign 10.100.100.2/30 to port 0, and the DG as 10.100.100.1.

Assuming Port 1 is LAN port, assign 172.16.200.1/24.

I don't know what to do with the the 125.25.25.6/29 address so my LAN is NAT'ed, and then sent via the 10. network.

      Thanks for any insight.

I have a question about this setup (just for my general understanding of networking).

Would this be considered a double nat situation? If so, does this create any issues with users on your 172. network?

Well, our experience is just from customers, but they basically sell free software, deployed poorly, for insane money.

We were pricing out something for a customer and it was like $200 and "this afternoon" from us, done correct. And they were like "WTF, we were going to be charge thousands by Crosstalk for less!"

Interesting to know. Will keep that in mind.

Another company on Youtube is Crosstalk Solutions

He has a series from Kevin Houser who wrote the book "The Unauthorized Guide To Ubiquiti Routing And Switching Vol1"
This series shows you how to set up and configure your Edge Router from start to finish along with networking concepts.

I highly recommend this series. It starts here:

      Youtube Video

*Edit = I am going to rewatch the series as it has been a while and I want to reconfigure my Edge router to setup a second AP Lite plus secure my network at home a little more.

Yep. Spinners only. I've been successful 3 out of 12 times. It only works when the drive heads or a platter is "stuck"

Wrap in saran wrap and Freeze for 2-3 hours, give a decent love tap along the side of the drive on the floor and plug it in to see if it will start.

Yep, I did this too. Problem is as it heats up the drive fails pretty quickly. So, if you have lots of data to get off the drive, with little time... good luck with that!

      Good point.

So let me start this off by saying if I hadn't listened to my boss first thing this morning, this mistake wouldn't have happened. but god forbid he say he was wrong.

Okay: so, Went and picked up a PC from a customer: the plan as it was said to me was

      • Pick up PC

*Bring back to office, put 2 new HDD's in and pull over the information after we image it.

*take it back and install it at the site again.

      So, what actually happened?

Brought the PC back, boss told me to stop, he has an idea.
Reformat one of the Hard drives we have here, on that PC and then have the FakeRAID we use rebuild the information, then test the PC to run a terminal and verify it works properly.

So I added the other drive to the PC. Little did I know (nor did I check) the Optical drive was set to boot first (which is where I added this Drive to the PC ). It came up as C: and the PC I wanted to load as C: loaded as D:

so when I opened cmd and typed in
format d: and pressed enter, I wiped all of the customer data from the Drives..

it wasnt until I noticed a program we don't use on aloha PC's was when I realized what I had done.

My Tuesday Fuck up in a nutshell. -- Let's all take a moment to give me shit for this colossal screw up.

we already downloaded a Software to Recover lost partitions and I have that running right now .

      $600 worth of kaboom

As someone who has spent large sums on fireworks, that is not an insignificant amount of kaboom.

I've done family fireworks shows dropping ~$300 on stuff. Though I do not think I got any shells bigger than 2"

Same here. Spent $300 this weekend and my little show lasted a whopping 15 min with most of the time spent setting up the next "bang"

Will have a much better show next year though as my father-in-law and a couple others want to chip in.

I found I'm bad in a candy store, but I discovered I am worse in a fireworks store.

@Obsolesce I don’t know how many times I’ve said people cannot do fucking math

The problem is, emotions get in the way of calculating the math.
