    • Vmware View Admin Console question

      Hello,

I built a couple of View Connection servers with version 7.3.2 but I still have one Connection server with version 5.3.4 installed and working.
When I log in to the administrator console of my old server and go to 'Remote Sessions', I can see which users are logged on through which server, by looking at the column 'Security Gateway'. But when I log into the administrator console of my new server, the same column 'Security Gateway' is empty. The column is there but I cannot see which user is logged on through which server.
I have checked and compared the settings on both servers and everything looks the same. Is this a version thing?
I have gone through the release notes for version 7.3.2 and didn't find anything about it.

I would appreciate it , if anyone can shed some light on it.
Please let me know if there is any more information I can give.

      Thank you.

I have found a solution to uninstall View agent 5.0.0, hopefully it will help someone.

      https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2000017

The above link worked for me. I was able to uninstall and install another version.

      Thanks all.

@black3dynamite Already tried that. It would not re-install since there is already a version of View agent installed. It just rolls back.
      Thanks.

      @iroal Thank you.

I was thinking of that, just have to get approval from 2 higher ups to download it.

    • Cannot uninstall Vmware View agent 5.0.0

      Hello,

I am trying to uninstall Vmware View agent 5.0.0 from some of my vdi's but I am unable to.
I am trying the traditional method, Start - Control Panel - Programs and Features. It starts the process and then does a rollback.

I have tried the MicrosoftProgram Install and Uninstall tool, seems like it does uninstall, but when I restart the vdi, it freezes on the 'CRTL+ALT+DEL' screen. Mouse and keyboard are inactive so I have to revert back to the snapshot.

I am able to delete the registry key but not able to delete or rename the View Agent folder.
I have tried to run the MSIexec command but it starts the process and does a rollback.
I have tried the psexec command but gives and error of 1603 which tells me that it is a fatal error but nothing more.

There is no option of buying any tool or software because we are on a budget (state agency).

      Anyone have any ideas?

      Thanks in advance.

    • Stuck in PSEXEC

      Guys and gals,

I am stuck in psexec trying to install the View agent remotely.
I was able to uninstall it but having some issues installing a newer version.

      Here's my string:
      psexec -u username -i \remote_machine cmd /c \location_of_executeable.exe /s /v" /qn VDM_VC_Managed_Agent=1 ADDLOCAL=CORE, PCoIP, SVIAgent, ThinPrint, USB" /forcestart /qn

After running this, I get the message, cmd exited on remote_machine with error code 0.

When I check the remote machine, nothing is executed or installed.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks in advance.

      @dashrender

Normally, I focus on the job description more than the title of the position but I get what you are saying.
      Thank you.

    • RE: Standard recruiting practice?

Thank you SAM for the reply.

I thought the same thing that it might be a fake job listing but it is a well known company in the country.
They have Level 1 and Level 2 job posting on their website but I applied to level 2 because I thought that my qualifications and experience match more for Level 2 than level 1.
My thinking is that the recruiter does not know all the details of the job, which is pretty common.

Also, if I thought that I am not qualified for level 2 position, I would not waste my time filling out the application on their website.

Another question is that would you guys go for in-person interview, if called?

    • Standard recruiting practice?

I had a phone screen last week on Friday, with the internal talent acquisition personnel at a well known IT software company in the US.
I had applied to Level II support position thinking that I have all the qualifications and the required experience for that level and that's what the phone screen was for, or so I thought.
The internal recruiter was going through the job description and explaining me stuff about the job and the company.
At some point, he mentioned that I will be considered for Level 1 position but it didn't click to ask him why is that.
At the end of the phone screen, he said that he will pass on the information to the team and they will let me know if they want me to come in for an in-person interview. Fair enough.

After recalling the conversation with him, I emailed him a 'Thank you' letter and also told him that I have applied for Level II position, and asked if he can explain why I will be considered for Level I position? His reply was that the manager of the team will decide which position will I be assigned to.

So my question is that is this standard practice where if there are multiple levels of position open for the same role, do the manager or the team decide where to place a candidate?

      Thank you.
