@prcssupport This is designed for one company per instance. If you are an MSP you would have one instance per client. There is a partner sales model. Message me for details if you're interested ^_^

RE: DattoDrive - FSS for small businesses (1tb $10/mo unlimited users)
I believe the majority of that responsibility would fall upon the end-user.
Our cloud is HIPPA compliant, but the instance compliance would be dependent upon the use of a firewall, group settings, and an ensured review of file history logs.
I have our legal rep looking into it to figure out if there are any other issues.

Since this is a relatively new offering, we currently do support exactly what @scottalanmiller referred to. Within the instance, file versioning exists as the method of backup.
At the instance level, it is currently replicated between two of our datacenters, but snapshots are not yet taken. When we do our 2.0 release, we hope to have this available. (snapshots would protect against ransomware in the same way the SIRIS would)

@Dashrender Questions are always welcome!
DattoDrive is actually a rebranded and modified version of ownCloud. It has all of the core functionality that would normally come with ownCloud with some of the server side stuff removed.
Each subdomain or account within DattoDrive is it's own private instance in our cloud. Version control is handled within the instance and is described on this page: https://doc.owncloud.org/server/9.1/user_manual/files/version_control.html
There are iPhone, Android, and desktop applications (win/linux/mac) that are also re-branded from ownCloud.
There is also a webapp available.
I have to check my knowledge on instance level backup before I get into a conversation about ransomware and restores outside of the version control already available. Will try to post that later on today or tomorrow.

DattoDrive - FSS for small businesses (1tb $10/mo unlimited users)
DattoDrive is a file sync & share service offered with small and medium businesses in mind. Instead of taking the typical per user model of pricing, it is priced by space usage.
DattoDrive is free for one year and then $10/month for your entire organization. With this, you get 1tb of space. Upgrades are available to larger offerings if necessary.
Datto is a company dedicated to total data protection and business continuity. We have our own private cloud consisting of 9 datacenters around the world with 2 bi-coastal centers in the US. We have 250+ petabytes of space and 700 employees dedicated to protecting business data, no matter where it lives.
Register for one year of free use at https://dattodrive.com

RE: If you are new drop in say hello and introduce yourself please!
@Dashrender I didn't know if it was ok for me to make a post for that O_o Since I'm new here, I'll ask; Where exactly should I post it?

RE: Starting own IT consultancy - Gathering list of tools required and recommendations
I just asked to join the service providers group. I think that's the closest I can get.

@BRRABill The tech is pretty great, but my most favorite thing is the focus on finding better ways to support small and medium businesses. Yeah, the profits are nice, but we're also willing to take some deep cuts if it helps our partners and their customers. We are currently offering a dropbox alternative (DattoDrive) specifically for that reason. We know won't make large profits on it, but companies shouldn't have to pay thousands for their team to sync & share files. Our motto "do the right thing" is a core belief that I love to stand behind.

@scottalanmiller We do actually have a small team as well to aid in the development of ownCloud and DattoDrive ^_^

@Dashrender I think it's important to note that we aren't small =P Datto has 9 datacenters around the world containing 250+ petabytes of storage space. Two of those centers are bi-coastal in the US.
We make our profit from other offerings related to business continuity. That allows us to make this service available at or near operating expenses. It's really intended to help small and medium businesses and we've acknowledged it won't make us large profits.

Hello!
My name is Mike and I'm currently working at Datto. I graduated this year with a software engineering degree. I've previously had co-ops involving software development, database design & development, system administration, and project management and am now getting into technical marketing!

Some file sync & share might be a nice value-add for customers or even for your own company's files. Dropbox and Google Drive are great, but pricey and a pain to keep organized. ownCloud is great if you want to set it up on your own. DattoDrive is a re-branded version of ownCloud hosted by Datto. They offer $10/mo with unlimited users.
