We're glad to hear that you're so excited about this new option! The new deployment option will allow you to deploy on Linux instead of just VMware or Hyper-V, as we've offered for the last few years. If you've been around awhile, you may remember that when both hypervisors allowed for tape archiving,, UEB was tape compatible. Since neither seemed to be opening this up again, we developed the ability to deploy on Linux just to meet this need. Please let me know what questions you may have.

RE: So many choices for Virtualization, need help narrowing down.
Rob - Thanks for using Unitrends. What model Unitrends appliance do you have? Is it one of the newer ones that can be used for instant recovery of VMware & Windows clients? If so, you may want to work with support to adjust your retention settings so that you can allocated resources on the appliance for failover. Please let me know what questions I can answer for you about this.

Yes. It does file level. I'll let @katieunitrends or @art_of_shred tell you all the technical details.
The free version will protect up to 8 VMS running on VMWare or HyperV in an agent less architecture. This version allows for both file level & full VM restore, so you should be covered. I did want to make the community aware that he free version has been removed from our website, but is still available for the next few weeks. To redeem this version, just make sure to specify that you're registering for the free version during registration. Please let me know what questions you may have.

RE: The worst. job. EVER.
Banana Republic. I had a horrible manager who was mentally unstable, and was essentially emotionally abusing others. She played favorites, and figured out ways to sabotage others so that she could continue to get promotions. After I realized that I was assigned 30% of the closing shifts, which meant that I worked from 1pm-10pm 4 of my 5 scheduled days a week, I started looking for a new job. She's still working for the company, and to this day, it amazes me that she has a job.

RE: PooPourri: This Ad is So Funny, It's Worth Watching
I've seen this ad before, but seriously thought that it was a fake product. Probably a bit TMI, but I feel like we might be able to use this in our office....

RE: Too Much Automation
Automation in small doses is good, but on a large scale can definitely add unnecessary complexity to a site, unless you have some checks & balances. Also, if you automate things too much, why do they need people working?

RE: Things That Users Do
I've definitely been guilty of a few of those. Makes me feel better that I'm not alone

Other ones I love are This American Life and RadioLab.
These are my favorites too. Also, if I miss CarTalk from NPR, I'll listen to the Podcast. I'm not the biggest car enthusiast, but the episodes are funny, and they don't always talk about cars

RE: So Creepy: Six Years Before They Realized Something Was Wrong
I've been hesitant to do automatic bill pay for some time now, but when I saw this article a few weeks ago, decided that my original stance was correct. Six years is a long time for noone to realize that she was gone. How did noone smell her body?

RE: Question on Reinstalling VMWare and Guest VMs
@JaredBusch I hate that you had a bad experience with our sales team. I agree that UEB may be a good option to consider. Another solid (& less expensive) option is our PHD Virtual Backup & Replication .This new product to the Unitrends family goes head to head with Veeam all the time, and often wins on price since the features are very similar. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you with your search.
