      I always get jealous of people that live in locations where fresh fruits grow. Yet another reason (in addition to not letting my kids keep secrets) to get off my ass and work on my Japanese skills.

      @scottalanmiller I've also seen a lot of people who had iPhones and went running back to Android.

      For people that like to tinker of futz with their stuff, the entire Android ecosystem is the place to be. For those of us who need the device (phone/tablet) as something that is not a toy, but works all the time I will always go with an Apple product at this time. If I had the free time to tinker, I would most definitely want to get an Android device. I simply do not have the time.

    • RE: This Is What the Internet Will Look Like in 2025

      @Joyfano

      Fragmented. β€œThe Internet will generate several new related networks. Some will require verified identification to access, while others will promise increased privacy.” -- Sean Mead, senior director of strategy and analytics for Interbrand
      β€œThe Internet will fragment. Global connectivity will continue to exist, but through a series of separate channels controlled by a series of separate protocols. Our use of separate channels for separate applications will be necessitated by security problems, cyber policy of nations and corporations, and our continued attempts to find better ways to do things.” -- Ian Peter, pioneer Internet activist and Internet rights advocate

      I can see this one quite easily.

      I have a Yealink T38G now but until I got this one I was using a Snom 320. I did have a Snom 870 and it crashes or won't except incoming calls pretty consistently. The Yealink Video phone is nice but as SAM said it just doesn't work. In past jobs I have used Polycom's but I have to say that my favorite and the easiest to use is the T38G. Simple but has all the features I need.

      That is why I have one on my desk also. But to roll out 35 phones to an entire office that does not need more than the ability to park a call, $150 per phone is a bit much.

      @JaredBusch that is an awesome price!

      Yes, I need to get a couple for testing, and if it pans out will be what my client buys for their new phone system.

      The Snom 715 I mentioned is not shipping yet, but it is basically the Snom 710 just with a gigabit pass through
      http://www.snom.com/en/products/snom-advanced-line/snom-715/

      A Google Shopping search shows pre-order pricing at $98 from two sites.

    • RE: Discussion Room - Pertino

      @Dashrender said:

      What makes Pertino secure? How is this different from Hamachi?

      To specifically answer this point, Pertino is completely secure because there is no 1:N endpoint. Everything is device to device.
      Example: You put Pertino on your DC and then on a sales laptop that is roaming the world. The person with the laptop has exactly the same access to the server as he has when he is in the office. Nothing more and nothing less. Pertino does not grant access to anything the user does not already have access to. Pertino is not a directory server or providing server authentication. Pertino is simply a network connection that happens to work from anywhere, it is not restricted to your office.

    • RE: MangoLassi Loads Title Bar But Page Blank

      I have this issue at a client site that has an old Firebox firewall with the transparent proxy in use doing content filtering.
      You guys should enable HTTPS (even with a self signed cert for testing) to see if the problem disapears

      They are bi-lingual (Japanese) and can already keep secrets from me with their mother due to that.
      I really really need to dedicate time to my language skills.

      I use the Yealink T38G for my office (4 whole phones). I like the Snom phones and the Yealink for the combinatino of quality and price. I am looking forward to the Snom 715 this week or next. It looks to be the best average user (with gigabit pass through) phone that will be available.
