apt-get -y install php5-gd php5-mysql php5 php5-cli apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 tshark mtr mysql-server php5-mcrypt librsvg2-bin gsfonts

so i think this command installed mysql not MariaDB, so i have to upgrade or something ??
i fear if i change mysql to MariaDB, this application will stop

oh great, so what a about connecting to MariaDB, is it the same as mysql, the syntax, is it similar to mysql in every aspect ?? if no what are the differences ??

also there is a software called lamp (similar to wamp in windows) i guess installing apache and mysql seperatly is more reliable than just install this ready to use application (i guess lamp only for testing and dev, in production envirnemnt we have to install things seperatly, isn't it)

i have mysql on windows a long ago, but recently i installed one application that work only on linux platform so i installed mysql in ubuntu along side with this linux application,

Start with CentOS 7 Minimal

yum -y installl epel-release php mariadb httpd

This will get the basics.

sorry but i'm not familliar with this, it is new for me and there is not time for learning from scratch, the only option i have is mysql or sql server

While I am 100% in support of PHP over .NET here, I do have to point out that .NET has no limitation on mobile, that's a mistake that someone made in that meeting. .NET can do anything PHP can do there and more.

because the current application we are using is .exe (VB.NET) for this reason we decided to rebuilt the project using PHP (web application)

so what do you think guys of SQL Server VS MySQL?? because my collegue told me that we gonna use SQL server because MySQL is not reliable and supposed to manage small size databases

now i have to prepare myself and start the project using the right tools from the begining and be able to expand the project in the future,
we will be 2 in this project, the other guy is considered the boss of the project, but i can still propose the right tools and framework to work with
