Customer used to have lots of MS Office and we setup KMS to handle keeping it all activated.

Now they are on O365. I want to get this stuff off the domain.

My google sucks this morning, as I can only find reliable results about removing individual keys or changing a end user system from KMS to MAK.

Leave the KMS alone. As people login and update their endpoints, the license and software will become licensed based on login. No change is needed.

I reckon the USA is scarier, you guys have bears. You can't outrun, out climb, out muscle those things.

Bears stay in the mountains. Spiders are jerks (see: https://www.facebook.com/uniladmag/videos/4375225242500501/). Snakes don't give a fuck, and they bite the Uber.

      Nope.

They don't, I've got nearly nose to nose with a bear in the yard while taking out the trash.

But I've also had a huntsman in my hallway.

      In Dallas?

Bears in upstate NY. Huntsman on Crete, in Aptera.

Ok, so you were in a wilderness/forested area. In Colorado, the bears stay in the mountains or near there. Occasionally, you may hear that one is in Boulder or an area very near the mountains. They aren't sneaking in to your car like the huntsmen are in Australia. Also, no bears in my house (until my father-in-law visits).

Neat. 4k movies use a lot of storage and muscle so it'll be good to see this deployed/popular, if it is a good quality.

I would expect it is. People still complain that H.265 is somehow bad. When it is much more likely a bad source or a dumb ass encoder.

      Yeah. Encoding is the worst.

@AshKetchum so i have 12 set top boxes and i distribute the channels to 100 plus TV in the property. i tried roku last night but in the morning the streaming stops and only shows the roku wallpaper. it much have timeout. i want a channel that will contineuosly play like how cable channel does.

I'm not aware of a Roku channel that does continuous streaming. Doesn't mean one doesn't exist, I just don't know of any.
Amazon FireSticks have a news channel that I believe will keep streaming, but that's not movies.

I think the expectation is different here for streaming services versus cable services.

With cable, there's no fee based on length of access - it's a flat fee wither your TV is on or not.
With streaming fees, the streamer - Let's say Netflix - is likely paying based on bandwidth usage and actual content usage, so they want to make sure their service is actually being used - For example, if you've ever binge watched a show on Netflix, after 4-6 episodes, assuming you haven't touched the remote, it will pause and ask if you want to continue watching? No response, the stream stops.

Of course, because of the non-stop availability on the side of cable, they build their fee structure based upon almost continuous viewing - i.e. higher bills, and I'm guessing things like Netflix can be lower because of the lower expected amount of viewership.
That's a long winded way of saying - I'm guessing there are business solutions to provide what you want, a non stop continuous streaming situation.

And all of that is assuming you're not breaking the law on rebroadcasting, etc.

yah, if some companies tried to reach this private island to inspect for rebroadcasting issue they will need their own private plane that can land on water or their yacht. regulations are almost doesn't exist in the middle of the oceans :). I just need to make sure the guest will be able to watch when they turn ON their TV. compliance and other issues can follow later.

that's true on your island - not so much where ever the transmitter is (i.e. where the dish is, assuming it's in the US).

Do we assume correctly that you can't get dish directly on the island?

Just set up a plex server on the island. You don't need Roku, even, just use a raspberry pi with rasplex.

SInce our source channel Dish is down, can i use roku as source channel? is there a roku channel that continuously going to play movies?

Roku is great as long as you have an Internet connection. I take you're not using the Dish for that? Roku has their own free movies (with commercials) and there are other "channels" that also do the same. If you'd researched Roku for 5 minutes, you'd see the large variety that's available. You can also set up a personal server for Plex to maintain your own library of media, including playlists, if you need to maintain control.

A potentially deadly weather pattern is setting up across the central US

Extreme temperatures coupled with high humidity flowing from the Gulf of Mexico have set the stage for life-threatening heat in parts of the central and southern US.
Texas and Oklahoma are no strangers to excessive heat in the heart of summer and, a little over 10 days into the season, the region is bracing for stifling heat through the upcoming holiday weekend.
Temperatures are set to feel hotter in Dallas,Texas, than in Death Valley, California. Earlier in the week, parts of Texas registered the ultimate mark of oppressive warmth. Some cities including San Antonio, Lufkin and Victoria set records for hot low temperatures, with some failing to dip below 80 degrees even in the overnight hours.

goddamnit, 2020. So help me, if the elections go badly in Nov, I'm signing up for a Mars 1-way ticket.

No, did you not read the links you provided? FreeNAS is a problem because it is fundamentally flawed conceptually. That's why we say ad nauseum that NAS OSes are the problem, and FreeNAS is an example. That's 100% different than saying that hypervisor stacks are good, but Proxmox was a vendor acting badly.

It's honestly shocking that you could confuse those two things. The degree to which they are unrelated is... well dramatic.

You seem to have put a lot of effort into trying to either defend FreeNAS based on things that misdirection rather than actually showing how it would have value; or putting in a lot of effort to try to discredit me doing evaluations of products that had you put half that effort into thinking about IT concepts, you'd have come to the same conclusions and understood the products for yourself.

Even just the titles of the links you used tell you everything that you need to know. You didn't even read the titles! WTF dude, lol.

I logged onto a W7 PC today and it had auto installed the chromium version of Edge.

I've been using that version since it was announced as available. It's had some good updates and I think it's at least as good as chrome now, plus it doesn't eat all my ram and make my cpu hot just for running. Set up properly, it'll sync bookmarks and works well, even on my android.

I understand there's a lot of animosity. I read the manual, such as is available, and release notes, and I've found it better than chrome in my use.

      Could a boycott kill Facebook?

Boycotts can be extremely effective - as Facebook is finding out.
In the late 18th century, the abolitionist movement encouraged British people to stay away from goods produced by slaves. It worked. Around 300,000 stopped buying sugar - increasing the pressure to abolish slavery. The Stop Hate for Profit campaign is the latest movement to use boycott as a political tool. It claims that Facebook doesn't do enough to remove racist and hateful content from its platform. It's convinced a series of major companies - including Coca-Cola, Unilever and Starbucks - to pull advertising from Facebook and some other social media companies. Meanwhile, other online platforms, including Reddit and Twitch, have piled on more pressure by taking anti-hate steps of their own.

I hope this kills facebook, or draws it back to a shell of it's former self.
