Most likely HAMR tech, i think we should avoid those and stick to traditional which is PMR and can support currently up to 12 TB.

Another VPS Kid on the block upcloud.com
Ok so its new VPS service on the block and it seems according to the benchmarks faster than Vultr and DO
Also they have their own version of Azure/AWS scaling, but made simpler.
Same pricing as we are used to for simple plans. Scaling or flexible plans costs more, they seem to run on NVMe storage and label it as MaxIOPS, seems worth an investigation.

This could also work. If your carrier is Verizon, it is usually slightly more painful to do.
It is, plus that means rebuilding the whole eco.. If I am going to do that, I will get a new phone too.
I've been reading around different forums, I am one of several million people very unhappy about this update!
Not necessarily... Root the phone, install a custom OS, and then install the Google Apps for that OS, and you're good. I just finally (after 2 years) rooted my 1st gen Pixel XL.
This path is like rabbit hole, sure you feel great, but you rarely get better phone afterwards. I had Lenovo a6000 and it was amazing for flasing, very easy but you rarely get better results from the one given to you, and back in the day the community was more vibrant about flashing, now you will get literally a rom done by only 1 person.

Anyone know how to get rid of the Samsung One UI interface? My phone was updated a couple of days ago, I'm ready to throw it into the drive shredder now....
i heard it has fancy Dark Mode , which is a plus. Cmon it cant be that bad considering Samsung original Skin, i heard alot of good reviews on the new One UI

I suggest looking into community groups that are from the same geographical area. There should be a few around since TO is one of the largest cities in Canada.
But I'm running away from my people here and the culture, and you are telling me to go back and live next to them. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:

I looked at your LinkedIn profile and you shouldn't have a y issues finding something. DevOps is in very high demand in US right now. I'm sure it is in Canada as well.
Thanks, but I reckon there is a change of level from Middle East IT to US/Canada IT, I know for a fact that you guys move faster and all the IT companies are based in US/Canada, for example, Acquia is amazing at Drupal, and Currently at Vardot we are learning from them a lot, so that is also one of the reasons I will move is to be closer to fast-moving tech.

Also LinkedIn premium is worth its weight in gold when job hunting.
I've often wondered what folks thought of LinkedIn Premium.
IF you cancel after a couple of months, they give you discount but you need to be brave and hit the cancel button and they will give you 50% discount for 2 months, I think the InMail feature is great, and like many people said its good just for the time you are hunting

Trying my luck in Toronto, Ontario
Hello all,
I will be doing a major change on mid-july, and going to Canada, Toronto. I have PR card that I rarely used and will expire if not utilized.
I am aiming to stay for 1 year and I think it will be a huge upgrade from living in Jordan, Amman.
Any tips and help is welcome, I did something nice already I have Nokia 2.1 phone with OpenVPN + Viber, and in Viber you can get Canada number, so that was awesome, and now I can call Canada numbers and receive them and I am applying heavily for Jobs.
That said I don't really know anyone in that city, I know my brother lives in Manitoba, but I really want to try to make it work in Toronto and not Manitoba, to avoid the cold.
If you know any tips, like good places to rent a place or anything it will surely help.

Does Container tech makes backups and RAID obsolete
Hi,
Do containers and management platform for containers, makes all the hard work of making the server resilient obsolete like RAID and backups, however we will assume that the DB are hosted outside of this scope like on Amazon services.

Why would I want to try "Windows" Terminal which is locked to only Windows 10 latest versions and from Windows 10 store, where this app can be mine on all windows platforms and portable and I can easily export settings in it. Maybe I am using Windows Long Term releases with no store .
Lets face it everything is better on Windows from another vendor:Windows Media Player = VLC
Browser = Chrome or Firefox
notepad= notepad++
etc...this is no exception
Cause Windows back in the day allowed Developers full access.
Sounds like you are doing everything the hard way.
Sounds like the easy way to me. All of those are one command line to install, but make every little task so much easier, standard, and powerful. Using those terrible MS tools is the hard way for sure.
... vs not using Windows i meant.
Just using it for steam

Nice!
Putty can do a couple of other things too though, like run a serial terminal. Useful for devices like switches and other stuff with usb/serial console ports.
I noticed those, but never had the luxury of actually using them.

Hats off cmder
IT IS FRIEKN ssh TERMINAL IN WINDOWS WITH SUPPORT for SSH and key based auth, and no more putty and kitty and weird nonstandard .ppk format.
I use Xubuntu 18.04 at Work, but have Win10 on my desktop for steam gaming, although ... I rarely played anything for like 3 months now.

RE: Best Backup Solution for 2019
Why would you want to backup File Server VM ? you mean you want to take BU of the files? cause you can make the file server install in like 5 mins, but you cant make the files back.
If so use 7z.exe command line on Windows or Tar and rsync on Linux and rclone for cloud.
