RE: IT Boss who over assumes, and promises everything, yet delivers less than half
Yeah that didn't happen we had to go and pick up yet another consumer drive, this one at 4TB.
We're at least taking our backup now.

RE: Fully crowdsourced extra spicy award
If that VoIP phone beats out Veeam I'd really have a laugh. . .

RE: Fully crowdsourced extra spicy award
Cisco is a partner of theirs so if they remove it what ever.
And I'm just a user there so I really don't care if they remove the option or change it to just Cisco.

RE: Fully crowdsourced extra spicy award
For the record I added our good friend Cisco CP-7911g to the list.
Cisco needs some love too.
Lets see if SW removes it

Or maybe a Webroot stress reliever.

RE: Enterprise 2 Drive USB Storage Devices
The price of the bay isn't that expensive either. . .

I'm thinking total unit, what are the best of the best.
Probably a NAS with USB ports then - still BYORust
Can you give me the item name, as that .ca site doesn't want to load from my point.

RE: Enterprise 2 Drive USB Storage Devices
But that's just the spinning rust portion, of which it's expected to be replaced at some point anyways.
I'm thinking total unit, what are the best of the best. Best form-factor, best controller, best "spinning rust" .. (haha.. best spinning rust.. ha)

RE: Enterprise 2 Drive USB Storage Devices
I guess a better question would be.
if you had absolutely no other choice and had to buy a 2 bay enclosure for External USB storage, what would you go with?
-
RE: Enterprise 2 Drive USB Storage Devices
House built IMO doesn't generally fill the description either. Which is why I left it out of the question.

Enterprise 2 Drive USB Storage Devices
So I'm well aware of the question, and how loaded it is.
We are currently using laCie and have had a rather high failure rate as of recently with 2 different units. So are there any units that fit in the Enterprise environment?

RE: Non-IT News Thread
Scott you're right he properly defended him self, while using an illegal weapon.
Now lets say he was completely following the law, and wasn't in possession of an illegal weapon, who's to say more people wouldn't have been killed.
That 1 return shot very well could've saved lifes.
-
RE: Non-IT News Thread
I know that SAM, and was going to follow up but got side tracked.
Yes he had the weapon illegally, yes he shouldn't have shot in public. Yet how is anyone supposed to defend them self when being fired at. Legally owning the weapon or not.

RE: Non-IT News Thread
Arrest made in Rochester NY Mass shooting (7 people shot, 3 of whom died). Person arrested was not the attacker, but defending self from drive by shooter(s).
http://www.twcnews.com/nys/rochester/news/2015/08/22/genesee-street-shooting-arrest.html
Which quickly implies self defense (and defense of others) worthless in NY as you'll still be arrested. ....

Scott,
I've been writing HR policy for everything from cell phones to services to assets. I've brought this one up and told to just do it this way because "IT needs to manage it for the users. "
See previous statement about bad management in SMB.
