      @coliver said in EMC VXRail:

It's too complex without additional networking infrastructure. They have a 3-node system and appliances available. I'm sure @KOOLER can comment.

From the previous implementation i recon that they offer an option of 3-way replication between all of the hosts, or the configuration of 2-way mirrors between each of the participants.

Since they are all daisy-chained no additional networking is required in either 2 or 3 node configurations.

Well, if the backups were stored off-site, a single days worth of data could have been the only loss there, which is the exact schedule they should be made for a service provider of their scale.

For the analysts of the current utilization of your hosts, best bet would be running a LiveOptics Collection toolkit. In result, the Report will present you with granular details as to the utilization of your CPU, RAM and storage.
After the run is complete, it would be highly beneficial to discuss your requirements to the future solution with the vendor of your choice.

+1 to an auto response like Tim_G said. At least that would inform senders about the issue.

I believe if PowerShell is your method, you will not be able to do what you are trying to achieve. The only way now is to use the one that has just been advised.

@scottalanmiller I am terribly sorry for that double post. In fact, I was checking two threads (this one and https://mangolassi.it/topic/16439/xosan-with-xo-community-edition) in two different tabs of my web browser, and here something went wrong, if I can say so... I will amend that post above not to mislead anyone.

They keep improving LibreOffice. I believe I need to give it another try. Earlier versions were not that comfortable for me, particularly 4.3, and now they seem to be better.

    • RE: Trouble converting an OVF to VMDK using MVMC...

You may have an existing settings file (like a .vmx) which you can convert into ovf format using VMware's tool 'ovftool':http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/vsphere/automationtools/ovf
There's quite a lot of options, which are detailed here in the user guide:http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/ovf/ovf20/ovftool_201_userguide.pdf

If thats not a viable option, You can download the OVF Import/Export tool from the Microsoft Download Center. The OVF Import/Export tool is distributed as a Windows Installer package. You must install the tool on an existing VMM management server that has the VMM console installed.

the majority of the previous cases of implementing such solutions indicates that the most popular would be the one where the data would first be replicated between 2 hosts, on site and one off prem.

I'd also suggest implementing MIIS to achieve it:

    • RE: Downloading and installing Starwind VSAN v8 on Hyper-V Server 2016 via powershell

Since i've previously attempted on testing the VTL to Cloud Replicator, I would like to mention that there can be a possible error in the process. Just so noone rings the alarm beforehand, it's quite simple to overcome the "Setup failed to install Microsoft .NET Core. Error 3010" by either rebooting the node, or installing the .NET core before installing StarWind.

After getting in touch with them, I was actually surprised that they were kind enough to take that into account in one of their future releases and mention to have that fixed.

    • RE: ExaGrid

Ideally, if your planning on going down the VTL route, it would be great if you were to look into the direction of StarWind. They have recently presented their solution at the VeeamOn conference, after swinging by their stand, I've come to find out that its a pretty viable solution for the creation and storage of backups as tapes on S3 or Azure.

    • RE: Help me with this Server Purchase (beginner in server hardware) regarding RAID ?

The selection of a RAID controller is one the most important parts when configuring a server. In no way a software RAID will be as fast as a hardware RAID and its model is greatly dependent on the amount of disks you will be using. It would be much easier to provide provide you with a specific model if you would provide us with the amount of disks(type) you are planing to use.
