    • RE: iPad SMB/Enterprise Management

There are many MDMs out there, there are quite a few to pick from.

Just remember that iOS by it's nature, limits what you can do as an admin. So certain things will be impossible.

Have you tried the Cisco MDM? It's free, using it for a few devices at the moment.

I've got a fancy motherboard that lets me do it 🙂 To my knowledge clock speed is always done on the board rather than on the OS.

I'm wondering what kind of settings I should realistically set as best practices for this sort of thing. Any ideas?

Will the devices travel or live at the office? If they should never leave the site, setup geo fencing.

Lock down installing apps, changing settings, various things.
Setup a list of apps to auto install, enrol in Apple's enterprise app management so you can do it nicely.
There is a warning if jail broken or other things happen.
      You can enforce passcodes
Disable Siri, disab camera, allow gaming, fair few settings.

Depends what you want. It's fairly decent.

Oh sorry, switch not router? We have NOT testing VoIP on a Ubiquiti switch. We use their routers all the time, they are our top choice.

Is this EdgeSwitch or Unifi Switch?

This whole thread was about their switches 😛

      24 port, EdgeSwitch lite.

Now it's running smooth as anything. I enabled auto VOIP on the switch and that was it.

I don't like auto modes as I don't know what they do 🙂

that's weird and concerning. Why would that be needed?

My thoughts exactly. Trying to read up on what it does.

@Breffni-Potter If you look at the thread I branched off from, @jospoortvliet is claiming I need to fix things. But this is a clean, default, yum based CentOS install. I have not even setup SSL on this one yet.

But Jared...why have you not opened a ticket 😛

This was amusing though: "The 'no internet' error, just like many others, does come only when there IS a problem - so are the other warnings"

I can build a responsive, looks exactly what I want website page, sway is hard work.

In the SMB (closer to S than M or B of SMB anyway) I've found the UTM approach anything but silly. The simplicity of management is a huge bonus.

The problem I find with UTMs is they need to be monitored and watched to be used properly. If an attacker is really trying to break in, do you want to hope the magic box works? Or is there monitoring to spot suspicious activity and react to it.

UTMs are a magic box that I'm seeing over-sold, I myself got suckered into buying one and actually, it provides no performance or security benefits to the organisation it protects because the monitoring and reacting that you need to do, is not being done.

    • RE: Install Microsoft Volume Licence application with Office 365

At least it tells you what the problem is for once.

I've got a 2010 copy of Visio stand alone, on a click to run Office 2013 365 working fine. Maybe if you had 2013 click to run and then stand alone 2016 access it would work.

Or, 2013 access with 2016 click to run.

It's not ideal but that's what I would try off the top of my head.

In the UK, we as a business can claim back the sales tax with VAT registration, so our price will be X + 20%. Other businesses can get the 20% back.

America, I don't know what goes on.

So let me get this right.

You want to watch ____ on TV.

But you want to replace the incredibly expensive multi million dollar advertising revenues that they receive, with something of your choice?

I sense a flaw with this plan.
