I have had my work Surface Pro 3 taken over Twice while teamviewer was running. Changed all Passwords, enabled 2FA and it still happened again. Contacted Teamviewer Support and what did they say? They said it must have been my fault and their software had no security holes. My Co-workers computer was also taken over, however he didn't have 2FA enabled. Nothing was compromised on our systems but we are now in the search for a new provider. Teamviewer can no longer be trusted! Their support is crap. They play, let's blame the users and not actually look at our software.

edit: I should add that I had a 18 character password with letters, numbers, caps as well as 2FA enabled plus the normal work security settings. Teamviewer was the hole, not our system.

While, I personally believe you, and believe that shit happened to TeamViewer, there is no proof. The problem here is that this is only your claim.

No one has been able to provide 100% documented proof.

I wonder if the logs would tell anything?

That sucks, sorry to hear that.

Did you reach out to them recently? They have been looking for people who had 2FA on and got hacked.

Also, do you know if you still had the random password on? I know that's something I did, and have recently turned off.

No I haven't reached out to them because the last time I did, they essentially blew me off and told me it was my fault. I contacted them 4 months ago when this initially happened. And yes I have the random password turned off.

wouldn't that come off as unprofessional if this were the case?

For a man to sit down with a good bottle of scotch? Well, yeah, if you do it at work or before driving 😛

I mean doesn't that show desperation on the part of the new hire? Thanks for hiring me, now here is a bottle of $100 scotch to say thanks.

no issues with my exchange. However the Admin Console is reporting issues with contact synchronization between exchange web services on Mac OS X. Other than that nothing has been reported.

Do you run CAT 6 End to End? or Do you use 5e sometimes?

Pretty much just CAT5e. Cheaper, easier to run.

how is it easier to run? It all depends on if you get solid to stranded wire.

Even all stranded, CAT6 is quite a bit more effort.

I've pulled 5e and 6 in through the rafters in my shop and to me there is no discernable difference between the 2. Even when punching down/terminating the cables.

Did you use CAT certified panels and RJ45's?

we use keystones and punchdown blocks. I typically don't terminate with rj45s

why not just look at a Toshiba mfp, or any color mfp for that fact? Every single one of my Toshiba mfp's 4540 (color) or 356 (b&w) do 11x17 native. No changes and can be used for every day printing, therefore eliminating the specialty. The Toshiba units that I purchased are $7000 but last a million or more prints with proper maintenance.

      @scottalanmiller
I use it and it's great. Still some quirks but for the most part it's very easy to use. No card to use and to me a lot more secure and I avoid the possibility of my card getting skimmed. I am getting my wife to use it as well so the only time it could get skimmed is at a POS terminal.

or everyone could just switch to a system that uses smartphones, a qr code that expires after 45 seconds and your 2 factor authentication on your smartphones banking app.

nothing can be skimmed in the current methods doing this way that I am aware of.

    • RE: Jeep Gets Hacked at 70MPH

what about the cars that have wipers with the fluid detector sensor on the windshield to automatically activate the wipers? On newer vw's, and nissans this is pretty well standard. They have a sensor that mounts to the windshield on the inside and somehow detects fluid being on the windshield, when it detects fluid, it signals the wipers to activate, therefore giving the hackers a way to control them.

the house I am currently living in had foundation issues and living in the Midwest has it own issues as well between the clay base where I live to the sandy areas in the central part of Wisconsin it is quite challenging. I have steel beams to reinforce 3 of my 4 basement walls. This was done at the sellers expense since it was found during the home inspection. The cost of those beams was around $11,000 and 14 were installed in all.

    • RE: Tips for a first time property buyer?

we bought our first house just over 2 years ago here how it went:

      both had jobs
got pre-approved (but just because we got pre approved for a certain amount didn't mean we wanted that large of a payment)
looked at 30 houses over 2 month
      went under contract
      paid for several inspections
walked away after said inspections found foundation damage (lost cost of inspections)
      looked at 6 more houses
under contract and we moved in
wife lost job the day our first mortgage payment was due
wife got very sick (massive debt from medical bills)
stayed in house and doing awesome now.

always have a contingency fund (that allowed us to stay in the house for a year before she got a job and was feeling better). Factor into your monthly payment property taxes, pmi (if you don't have 20% down), homeowners insurance (you can call your agent and ask what the typical rate is for a house that you are looking at). Remember to include in the cost of purchasing your house, the tools to maintain it such as a lawn mower, trimmer, hedge clippers (if you have them), in my case I also needed a snow blower and shovels.

    • RE: Getting Phish'd

@tonyshowoff but these are different than those other phishing scams that you can tell are completely fake. These are detailed down to the very person who signs off on the wire transfers. The one we had here knew the name of our president, ceo, cfo, vp of finance and controller and had crafted the emails to look like it was being sent from the cfo to the controller (who signs off on the wire transfers). The email address that was being used was once again .co and not .com. They hid the email header information so these guys are really good. Using a real bank account that was detailed enough to get the name on the account, account number, routing number (which i know is easy to find). Whoever is doing this does their homework.
