This was going to my answer. It's so easy to setup HTTPS that it makes no sense not to.

Ok so next level. Use a Certificate from an internal CA? As you can't use something like Letsencrypt

      Or just use HTTPS

Why wouldn't Let'sEncrypt work? Do these systems not have access to the internet at all?

That’s not how let’s encrypt works. LE has to reach back to the device you cannot port forward everything to everything. I fucking hate how people think that let’s encrypt is the master solution for SSL because it is not

There are tons of alternatives to this. Even having a single "public" system getting a wildcard and then pushing that cert to the systems that need it would be fairly easy to script.

They can do that, but they don't automatically.

I quoted the constitution. It's pretty clear that he can't "hold and enjoy any Office of honor". If he's found guilty.

Meh... this was totally expected.. and it's expected to completely fail in the senate.
at least that's the last I've heard when I cared enough to listen.

It's around 99% certain or more that it will fail in the senate. The question posed to the senate is not "did the president do X wrong", but "does the senate feel that what the president might have done wrong is worth removing him from the role". So even if the senate believes all of the charges, even if it proves them, that's not what they are voting on.

It's going to be really interesting what kind of precedent that vote will set. Like you said... this is the first really urgent and serious offense.

It's going to be more codification of corruption in the US. Not Trump corruption, ignore that, but corruption endemic to how the constitution was written that was intentionally moving power to rural white farmers. The senate is not democratic and isn't meant to reflect the will of the people or the nation, unlike the house which is at least representative. Washington DC gets zero influence in this critical vote, Wyoming gets a huge voice. This process highlights how terrible the government design is and how screwed up the founding fathers were.

Yep. No argument from me here.

and then if they fail it at the senate - He can run again for office in 2020, but with a legal Impeachment on his record; he'd be stupid to run for office again.

He can run again regardless. The senate vote in no way would normally bar him from future office. The senate has the power to do that, but it is not a standard part of the vote that they are asked to take, that's an "over and above" action that they could take if they wanted to.

If the Senate does find him guilty he will not be able to run for or hold public office.

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

      Which, shouldn't happen.

Welcome to my world - weeks of boredom followed by a month's worth of stuff that must be done in 48 hours. I actually had to be here at like 7am last week - that's far outside my regular hours. But they just gave me a raise, so they say jump , I say how high.

      fair enough!
I blame the weather for us to being slow today.

how does the weather make you slow? computers rarely care about the weather.

My conclusion about the Mandalorian: <ssnip> and has next to zero story or progression.

WTF? You want a TV series to be done in 1 episode? What would be the point of a series?

Get over the binge watching attitude of needing to see 10 hours of story at once.

That or wait until the season is over and then watch the fucking thing.

It may well turn out to be shit. But that is not what it looks like so far.

This has nothing to do with me wanting to binge the show. I actually like the pacing overall. I like having time to think about it and having the episodes be a separate thing. What I do want, that I haven't seen much of is for there to be some kind of advancement of someone's story. So far <spoiler> Mando has more armor and baby Yoda has joined him </spoiler> nothing else of significance has happened in either of their stories.

The Mandalorian betray his people the bounty hunter's guild and forced his people to have to go into hiding elsewhere is not a big development?

No, because we have no idea why the Mandalorians are in hiding (from the context of the show, can't use EU because Kathleen Kennedy). Why are they on the same planet as the BHG?

We know of something called the Purge, it's talked about in the first episode. We know that Besskar was taken from the Mandelorians for use by the Empire.

I'm probably in the minority. But so far the pacing of The Mandelorian has been pretty decent. It throws a ton of lore in there without going overboard, and gives you plenty of time during the show to digest what's going on.

It also, bizarrely, doesn't play the audience for stupid. Which is a nice change of pace.

Many people around here use NC - I could attempt to replace windows file shares with NC - but as I already mentioned, it's mostly used through a single huge shared volume - I have no idea how NC handles something like that. I can't imagine syncing 20+ GB to every computer... plus there would likely be no file locks, so people would be stepping on each other for edits, etc.

They are working on a NC "drive" that only caches currently worked on documents. I'm hoping they release it in the near future.

Maybe like Google Drive File Sync. That could be an option depending on what all is in S:

Yeah, pretty much. Honestly 20GB isn't that much. Sharepoint and Onedrive could easily cover that.

Yeah - they can - but damn, downloading and uploading the files over the interwebs - they take forever. We're on a 100/20 pipe here, even small files still have a noticeable download delay compared to using a local FS.

That's why moving away from local edits is something I'm really keen on. If we could move to cloud edits only, or at least primarily, that could go a long way.

      Zoho Docs?

      Or O365.

our chances of leaving the Exchange Eco-system is near zero.

One moment cost matters, the next it's irrelevant 😉

lol - yeah - it boils down to unwillingness to change - they don't want to learn a new client.

You can use Outlook with Zoho.
