There is a LOT more to a CAD system then just check in and check out. It's the other bits that don't work well for us.

So you're a snowflake company that the specializes tools, that do way more then just check in and check out, won't work for?

Sounds like you have a bad implementation to me. I've been part of this battle before with engineers. Get one of the savvy ones on board and the rest will follow.

Power just went out here for a whole city block. All my systems are currently still up and running off of both UPS and a propane generator that is plumbed to the city. I love it when a plan comes together.

Wasn't Tower going open source instead of paid as well? If I remember that correctly, that should make Ansible+Tower easy. I've only used salt so far, so really have no idea.

I use Bitwarden at the moment and really like it. Open source and if you have concerns about their SaaS app you can self host it. It doesn't Autofill unless you tell it to (and even then the autofill is less then stellar, but I don't use that feature so it doesn't effect me).

At least he has good backups. He should stop everything he is doing right now and restore his DCs from backup. That would be the fastest way to resolve this issue.

This is kind of where I'm leaning. CPUs can take quite the beating but once you Overclock them, even using the "safe" settings from a motherboard manufacturer, you risk damage.

Someone needs to rip that earring out of his head.

Maybe then he'll get a clue.

He wouldn't get as many views then, and that's really the point. People don't like watching someone succeed nearly so much as the utterly stupid. (See his $100,000 pc build for another one.)

Views also get him sponsorship which is where the $100,000 PC came from.

Trying to figure out how to operate a CNC engraver/router.

With software to tell it where to go

Working on that... not the easiest thing. I've tried using the recommended UGS and FEngrave but I can't get the g-code to be properly formatted. I'm looking at Inventables' Easel software. I think that may work a bit better but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. The downside is I don't have any internet at the location the engraver is so it's hard to actually troubleshoot it.

@dyasny ...the two party system makes everything you're saying worse.

No, because a two party system makes such abuse impossible. There are other problems, but I'll take those over being forced to feed a small group of people for free, just because they were well enough organized to put a party together and force it down everyone else's throats.

      giphy.gif

Two party systems only makes people choose a side. The problem is the both sides are extremely corrupt and because of collectivism people are unwilling to think for themselves. This problems is on both sides. People are defending Trump or Obama just because he his on their side or vice versa. There is already an opinion formed that I am a Democrat/Repubican therefore my party is always right and the other guys are completely wrong.

Intelligent people are able to look at things by issue not by party or politician. Unfortunately 90% of people are completely tied up in this party affliation bullshit. It's easy to sell because you can always make the other side look stupid since they both do stupid things. Then people from each party will make themselves feel better from mocking the other party. When in essence they are the ones being fooled since they never look at issues from a neutral or opposite point of view.

Collectivism is a bitch and it makes people dumber than rocks!

so you are suggesting to split all those people into even smaller chunks, and try to form a government out of a collection of those tiny chunks. If you have 10 parties instead of 2 (with the size of the US, it'll be more like 100 parties really), each pulling in it's own direction, how will a government be able to even form, not to mention actually do anything?

I mean that's kind of the point... the Government should be forced to negotiate between itself. It will need to slow down and actually work through problems instead of waiting for 2-4 years for the next party to become the majority.

In any scenario I would consider GoPro, prosumer at best. But I'm also not an expert on videography or photography. But as a device they seem ridiculous. On par with using a Raspberry Pi in my opinion.

This is a weird stance. What fixed lens, wide angle, ruggedized, portal videography equipment do you feel so outshines GoPro?

I have no comparison. But in handling the equipment it felt like rubbish. I've not used it nor would I want to.

You should. If you ever need something that fits in that specific niche you won't really find anything much better or comparable to a GoPro.

They are super solid, extremely rugged. Incredible image quality. Being able to do what they do at their size is nearly a miracle of modern engineering. They are used by nearly every professional videography shop today because of their outstanding quality and reliability.

They've also had a roll in pretty much every major movie in the past decade. Whether it be as a steady cam tracking a shot or on a rig over the shoulder of a character. They are versatile as long as you understand their use case.

Spent most of the nights this week trying to get rusted or galled bolts out of the truck front end. Trying to replace the hubs and struts as the ones that are there are shot. Resorting to heat as nothing else seems to work.

Buying a new vehicle usually works for me. . .

Hah... I was thinking it would be easier... got a used 2005 Titan SE King Cab for 1500$. I'll probably put another $500 in it before I'm done. The previous owner put in a new engine 70,000 miles ago and it is still in really good shape. The frame is immaculate (especially for driving in upstate NY for so long) and the 4-wheel drive works. So I got this truck for a steal.
