Governments are wanting to control the internet and trying to put loads of pressure on big internet companies to comply with their wishes...I see eventually they will probably get what they want.

Facebook to be banned in Papua New Guinea for a month
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-44290012They mention about wanting to create their own Social Network for the country, what an excellent idea so they can create a backdoor and have access to everyone's information.

RE: Windows 1803 Known Issues
My main machine keeps trying to install 1803 but then rolls back and unable to install, hate the way windows does these feature updates now, had same issue when 1709 was pushed out.
They should go back to the old way....If I didn't need my music apps, I would be on Linux in a heart beat.

RE: Building a Hyper-V 2016 host Take 2
Setting up a hyper v server outside of a domain is just as much fun, completely redicolous really. ESXI and XS are a lot quicker to get up and going with.

Do you use this on LAN or WAN for your backups?
You could use either, but ideally and for the best performance you would backup onsite (as LAN will be faster) and then have a separate service that copies those backups offsite.
No, you never want a separate service copying backups. You want your backup service to take the local backups and send changed blocks to the offsite repository and have it put together the new backup there.
Transferring entire backups is just stupid.
I must admit, This makes most sense to me.

RE: ONLYOFFICE launches a new version with table of contents
I've heard only office has excellent support for opening office documents with heavy formatting, how true this is I don't know as I haven't used it before.

RE: Office 365 Email Gone After Forced Logoff
I wouldn't like to see the end of 365, but I would always like to see good competition to Microsoft, a leopard never changes its spots in my eyes and Microsoft have history with all the previous court cases in some of their dodgy practices and monopolisation..they slagged off Linux to high heaven in the older days and now their embracing it? Might be something to do with Microsoft using it as part of their azure backend.
You can't doubt they make some excellent products but they have always ripped people off and most of their licencing models are complete shit...I think in a few years people will be moaning to high hell once all their subscription models have been increased through the roof and Microsoft know you won't go over to Google now as their Google apps/g suite has been left in the dust.
Microsoft are far from a perfect company and it does iritate me when people di*k ride and never see any fault with them and a lot and most are Linux haters I find as well...

Don't you want to use a cron so you don't have to check daily?

RE: Remote Desktop Services & Lets Encrypt
@jaredbusch That's what I thought when I first looked, but I've got exchange in a lab that I'm trying with this, will see how the auto renewal goes...certs are working fine at the moment though.

Remote Desktop Services & Lets Encrypt
Found this tutorial on using Lets Encrypt with RDS, might be useful for someone, have not tested this myself yet though.

There is also one for Exchange as well:

RE: Office 365 Email Gone After Forced Logoff
@tim_g I agree most people don't need on-prem exchange no more, but I do think that once Microsoft have looked at the numbers and most people have moved to 365 they will up the prices, they won't keep the cost per user as low as it is for long, bet you they will hike that right up sooner or later.

We had a corporate meeting yesterday and they keep suggesting that we move from our in house exchange system to O365. NO CHANCE IN HELL! For this exact reason.
Would be interesting to see if many people have moved away from 365, I haven't heard of many to be fair in the UK.
Well we just moved away
I think Zimbra is great, would love to see many more people move to it. Shame about this interface update in limbo though.
