Haha... my company doesn't have a policy, but want to put one in place and they asked me for advice (not my job, but they trust me on stuff) ... so I thought I would ask and see what other companies do.

Let me clarify, I don't care about the data or the laptop itself, I'm just curious what policies ya'll have for negligence of company equipment.

So, this is an HR question rather than IT.

We have had several instances in the past year where people have left their laptop in their vehicle and it has been stolen. We don't have anything proprietary on the laptops so the data on it is of no concern, I'm just curious what policy your company has when it comes to equipment being stolen (and having to be replaced) from an employee because they didn't secure it. i.e. leave it in their vehicle at a hotel.

I normally fly Southwest... but the SW flights were going to be a 12 hour day of traveling.

Anything under 10 hours and I drive it as a rule. I love to road trip. Usually we do the trip from here in to Austin every year. But this year I will be flying not driving.

Thats a drive... not as much as your cross country a few weeks ago, but still a drive.

wow,.. bad luck. I've had airlines lose my bag twice, and it was on the return flight so it wasn't that big of a deal.

So SW believes that there is nothing shorter than 40-50 hours of work per week. I realize that Americans tend to be skewed on these things, but this seems really extreme.

Just another example of how they want a specific answer in their polls so design the polls without the possibility of honest answers in many cases.

I work 40... no more... if I do, the next week I take comp time.

Its kinda stupid... but it was the less stupid option for the money and flight time, but I fly west to Denver, then Chicago, then Rochester

I'm flying United in from west Texas area.

I got a shirt from Adtran at SW last year, don't care for the design, but it is a super soft shirt. I love just sitting around on the couch with that shirt on.

Tons of microbreweries all over the state. Those are just the big ones. Even down around the corner from the NTG HQ in the country is a new micro that just opened run by one of my classmates.

Thats one of my favorite parts of visiting Colorado, almost every town has a microbrewery in it.

@scottalanmiller Haven't planned it out... most likely rent a car after the conference, plan on going to some wineries, other than that it is up in the air.

@scottalanmiller I'm flying in that Wednesday for the conference and leaving the following Wednesday. Taking a couple days of vacation to go explore, etc.

@scottalanmiller I went to Niagara falls once for like 3 hours... i don't count that. I haven't been on the east side of the US a whole lot... the only place where I have spent some time is in Delaware and Baltimore.
