I'm not going to go on another rant about the DMCA but how does Plex Cloud work legally? Seems pretty crazy to me if they are just relying on the old non-drm content technicality

      https://www.plex.tv/blog/book-plex-volume-3-plex-cloud/

I have a beta key if anyone wants me to test it.

That link takes you to an article that only talks about linking cloud storage of your stuff to plex.

But to answer the question you are trying to ask.

It is likely no different than certain add ons to Kodi. It is not Kodi providing the questionable sources.

Isn't over 90% of content protected by DRM? How do you legally watch movies on Plex locally (without subscribing to a streaming service)? I get that they aren't supplying the content, but who are they marketing to?

Nobody in the US has been prosecuted for removing DRM from DVDs and BluRays because they actually don't want a court challenge on DMCA law.

Had to rebuild my Unifi Controller vm, completely screwed up apt and it was easier to backup and reload.

Watching Star Trek TNG and had a thought... if they ALWAYS set the phasers to stun, what were they on before? Since stun and kill seem to be non-defaults, what is the default? Tickle?

Maybe they are just practicing good firearm safety, always double check a firearm's status when you handle it...

Just decommissioned 3 exchange servers today... 7 out of 11 are windows servers currently, but the number of linux servers is growing here.

Hrm, fast-clone. Probably time to try out a Btrfs based file server at home.

      It's good stuff.

Yeah, I know brtfs is the way to go, I just haven't tried it out yet myself. Starting out on IRIX with XFS back in the day makes me a too nostalgic.

I still use XFS for everything.

Also, should we maybe make another thread for the btrfs discussion?

I think the rule is, when in doubt, make a new thread.

Frigging laptop just crashed, wtf man

      looks sternly at laptop

Left my damn power supply at home this morning. That is what I get for leaving at 5am.

Emergency trip to Microcenter and $70 later, I now have a charging battery.

I love Dell for keeping the same adapters for years - I have one for work, one for my laptop bag, one for home

They've kept the same for their business line... their consumer line has changed some.

@Dashrender said in Unifi switch - tagged traffic issues:

Unifi's guest still uses all the production network services.

      What's the concern there?

Licensing could be an issue if you are running Windows DHCP/DNS.

That was covered in the other thread and makes sense. But doesn't address the "hacking" concern.

      Didn't see the other thread.
